We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle N. McDonough and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, why did you pursue a creative career?
Storytelling has always been very important to me. It inspires people and takes them on incredible journeys. Through books, we are able to meet hundreds of people, live dozens of lives, and visit places we will never see with our own eyes.

I knew at an early age that I had many stories to tell and I don’t think there was anything that could have ever stopped me from sharing them with others. By pursuing a creative career as an author, I am doing what I love, following my passion, and hope to inspire others along the way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Last year, 2021, I completed a seven year project when I published the final book in The Legacy Series. This was a huge accomplishment for me, as I am 100% self-published author.

Before The Legacy Series, I had started many projects, but never completed any of them. However, when I began writing Book 1, The Preparations, I decided that it was time to finished something. After getting feedback from my beta reads, I knew that I needed to write the rest of the series.

Unlike many authors, who put books out as they finish them, I wrote all four books before starting the publishing process. This allowed me to make adjustments all the way through, which helped the series flow and kept continuity perfect.

Only after I was finally done writing did I start working toward publishing. I made mistakes, but learned from them and grew as an artist and entrepreneur while struggling to reach my goal. My journey hasn’t been easy, but looking back on it give me nothing but confidence that I can meet the challenges ahead.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a writer, I like places that are uplifting. Sometimes, I visit these locations for inspiration and sometimes I go there to get work done.

One of my favorite local spots is Bubble Bubble Tea House. It’s the perfect place to visit with friends, write the next chapter of my book, or work on my social media marketing. The atmosphere is modern and inviting, there are tables and board games available, as well as a variety of delicious drinks to choose from.

I also enjoy taking friends to stroll around The Harbor, in Rockwall, TX. Set on the edge of Lake Ray Hubbard, there are several lovely paths to follow along the water. You can also catch a movie at the theater, do some shopping in the retail space, or grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants.

If I planned to venture into the metroplex, I would most likely end up at the Dallas Zoo or the Forth Worth Botanic Garden as I have a love for open spaces, nature, and animals.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my family and friends for all of their support, of which there has been no shortage, and, especially, my sister, Becky, who has been my loyal companion along the road to publishing. Without her help, I would not be where I am today.
