We had the good fortune of connecting with Eduardo Holguin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eduardo, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe in the power of art. Art is everywhere we go, in all it’s splendor. Growing up in a third world country, I did not have the cultural perspective of making a career out of the creative industry. i decided to study advertising and art direction trusting my gut that it would lead me to create the best version of myself

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to create digital conversations of value. Making the interaction of humans and art a experience embodied in text bubbles, making it a visual journey of texts and messages. Through @byholguin, I make the use of photography and graphic design to insert text bubble conversations in my visuals and start a thread about beauty, fashion, mental health and physical health. This way, I make the viewer interact with the conversation we created throughout the shoot and get the text messages flowing under the hashtag #startaconversation #byholguin

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Something that never goes wrong is a good coffee — from Felix Roasting Co. in Soho to Cha Cha Matcha there’s always a good spot to recharge and relax. For the day to day, strolling around the upper east and visiting the Met while having a sunny afternoon in central park must be one of my favorite things of living in the city. For nightlife, Lower East and East Village have my heart; a good drink mixed with a good time in the city of lights.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents, for supporting me throughout the process of dis-involving myself in the creative field and supporting me throughout the process. my friends and supporters throughout my trajectory in moving countries and then moving states to make a life out of creativity in NYC.
