We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Planning and execution…the typical end user does not understand the value in well thought out and planned A/V project. And to be fair it’s not really their fault, the market pushes their products so hard as “easy” or “anyone can install this” they fail to realize certain foundations must be in place to have a stable and serviceable system. Sure most people can throw together some sort of DIY type “smart home” but the end in mind is never usually thought out from the get go.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nothing worth anything comes free. It is not easy to build a brand that is respected and known throughout your community. If you’re in business for yourself here is a lesson that I can share. You must remain positive even when it’s the most difficult time to do so. When there is something that needs to be done and you don’t feel like doing it, that is the most important time to make it happen. Find yourself a mentor that will shoot you straight and isn’t afraid to hurt your feelings. True change comes in uncomfortable situations.

Everyone has some cliche saying that “sets them apart” mine is very straight forward. I care about my clients enough to be honest, accountable, show up on time, and do everything I say I am going to do. It’s really just that simple for me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I had choose one book that truly changed my mindset it would be “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins. I have personal and professional mentors who shall remain nameless but are an intricate part of my growth.
