We had the good fortune of connecting with Milagro Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Milagro, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from a little town in North Mexico. In the state of Nuevo León. My family were migrant workers n always worked in the hot sun from sun up til sundown. Hard work has been Instilled in us since we’re able to walk. I am who I am today because of my parents and their upbringing, doing anything and everything to make sure we had everything we needed, hard work is part of my upbringing and it’s what I I still in my kids, my Mexican heritage is something I’m very proud of..

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am pastry chef. That is an art in and of itself. Not only is it an art, it’s science and chemistry as well. You can give anyone a baking recipe but not just anyone can bake it. Everyone one can mix it up n put it in the oven.. but it won’t come out the same. There’s level to things, the measurements.. the ingredients…What sets me apart is I ship nationwide, as far as I know I was one of the firsts in DFW to start selling my Konfektions n shipping them, also my Intentions that go into my work, which are works of art on their own. I always put positive Intensions, i add happiness and so much love in all my pastries. I use only the best ingredients, organic and they’re always made to order, nothing ever sits on a shelf. I am Super proud of how far my Bakery has come, especially when Covid hit, didn’t know how that was going to work. But with help from my ancestors it really took off, also excited for my new creations that are always on the way, my imagination is Always running with new and exotic things To bake. The road to where I am right now has definitely not been easy, but anything in this world worth having doesn’t come easy. Obstacles are in a lot of roads, but if you have the right support system there’s nothing you can’t hurdle. My support system, family n friends and my customers, is how I overcame them. Their loyalty is unmatched. The way my customers vouch for me has been so Inspiring n makes me want to do even better. Along the way Ive learned to appreciate good people, to always be genuine n true to yourself. That without a good support system things don’t ride as smoothly, that the people you surround yourself with has a huge impact on your success. I am
A hard working Mexican woman, who loves to bake n spread love through my pastries. You can go buy cookies and other pastries anywhere, at other shops but they will never taste like mine. I put my whole heart n soul in them. I can give you my recipe and they still won’t taste the same. Something you have to try yourself. My customers will tell you, once u try them there’s no going back lol

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man lol well We’re big sports fans sooo we’d definitely have to catch a sports game of some sort( depending on when she’s visiting depends the sport) we’d definitely go visit Jerry’s world and take her on a tour of the stadium. It’s amazing and I wish I could live there lol we’d definitely visit downtown Dallas, do some walking, n shopping. I’d definitely take her to the botanical gardens, the art museums, the Perot Museum. The forth worth Zoo we’d definitely have to go!

We’d hang out by the Lake n soak up the sun n get grounded with the earth. And then go and get some boba. We’d probably go thrifting and then to bookstores or library, J Erik Johnson Library is great! then head out to eat probably tacos. Or some BBQ. Lol I love food so we’d always be going to food places, tacos, bbq, Korean, food all the food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, I wouldn’t have opened my shop without him, he’s the one that gave me the idea to start my baking business lol. He would eat them n one day he said.. “you know you could sell these n people would buy them.. i promise you” He has been my biggest support, mentally and emotionally. My family, my sister also a huge support, mental n emotional as well, our kids(the taste testers) and my Flakita she has been with me through thick n thin.
