We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaia Nyoike and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gaia, what inspires you?
I am inspired by passion! I am passionate about the things that set my soul on fire. Sometimes it could be swimming with whales in some beautiful tropical island, a warm cup of tea with biscuits in the afternoon, a full moon, the sound of children playing, the smell of the earth after it has rained, soulful conversations, beautiful sunsets and other times it could be shared laughter among friends over a glass of champagne. I am inspired by life and people who are passionate about the things they do light a fire under my feet and fan my flames.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born and raised on a farm in Kenya and twenty years ago I moved to the United States. I have always been intrigued and inspired by beautiful places, experiences, architecture, art and fashion. I believe that fashion inspires creativity and personal style. It has the power to evoke emotion that moves a culture in one direction or another.

As I have grown, evolved and matured so has my personal style which I now consider to be classic, timeless and feminine. I believe that the difference between fashion and personal style is that fashion refers to a popular trend within a specific time for example low rise jeans are trending this year on the other hand personal style is timeless and elegant for example your classic black blazer.

The journey of self-discovery is never easy however, it is very rewarding. This process will challenge your values and beliefs. It will force you to try new things, discard old habits, learn a new skill and evaluate your actions. You will fall multiple times and you will get up multiple times. This constant pressure is how diamonds are formed.

This journey of self-discovery resulted in the birth of The Quaintrelle Lady a fashion, beauty and lifestyle brand that was established in 2019 as a result of people wanting to shop my wardrobe. The Quaintrelle Lady YouTube channel focuses on style inspiration, style tips, and living a life of passion.

Quaintrelle is an old English word that represents a woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm and a cultivation of life’s pleasures. It is the essence of who I am.

What sets me apart is that I am individually uniquely me and I am most proud of the woman I am becoming.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love wholesome and fulfilling experiences that remain ingrained in the mind. So the first thing we would do is grab a green juice and an acai bowl from the juice bar and then head over to highland park village for some retail therapy. We would then spend the afternoon getting lost at the Dallas museum of art and afterwards have afternoon tea at the French room of the Adolphus hotel. This is a must have experience and the decor is just delightful.

I love live music so a cocktail at Catbird while listening to jazz music is a no brainer. For dinner we would head up to Monarch which is on the 49th floor of the national building and preferably have a seat by the window so we can overlook the city. It is a great place for date night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have been my biggest supporters. They encourage me, listen to my ideas, watch my videos and emotionally support me with their kind words. I will forever be grateful for them.
