We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olivia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been in the nutrition and functional medicine space for over 10 years. Although my focus started in sports nutrition and wellness, it was through my own personal health journey that I became impassioned in women’s health.

Overall, I find the space of fertility and gynecological problems often disempowering for women. From symptoms being quickly dismissed or normalized and medications often recommended as a primary intervention, I wanted to provide a space to empower women in their health and healing journey with holistic tools. Diet, lifestyle, and mindset are imperative treatment factors in conditions like PCOS, fertility challenges, missing periods, and period problems. Women are regularly not educated in detail by their providers on actions to take form a non-pharmaceutical perspective to support these conditions. It is important for women to know that there are options to support and work with your body, within your control, no matter what your goals are!

I believe women deserve more in their health care and I wanted to create a company that would educate and support women in their health on a greater scale. Working 1:1 in an integrative clinic was valuable, but I found limitations in providing care. I found often that clients were much less invested in the process and with the volume of clients I was seeing, I was only able to give so much attention to each case. Within a private practice I have the flexibility to provide group courses, intimate 1:1 containers, and self paced curriculum to support women on their health journey’s with greater reach.

Private practice also allows me the freedom to provide care in my “flavor”.

Working with clients to identify the root causes of their symptoms or conditions, I guide them to build foundations for healing before adding in advanced lab testing and supplements. These foundations include diet, lifestyle, and mindset building blocks – important prerequisites to create an environment for progressive healing. These are practices I have seen time and time again move the needle most in my clients care. Instead of short term restrictive diet or lifestyle changes, I find that this approach helps clients create health and a lifestyle that is realistic and sustainable beyond our work together. Creating health and healing is a process! I wanted to build a private practice that held space for this growth while offering partnership and guidance every step of the way.

Liv Nourished Nutrition was born with intention to restore hope in the bodies innate ability to work with you vs. against you, I love guiding women to this space of partnership within my practice everyday.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Liv Nourished Nutrition with the mission to guide women on their steps to partnership with their body through women’s health education, personalized nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and intimate mindset work to pave a path (one that’s authentically yours) to transformational healing.

I believe that much of our conventional medical system is broken in the way that it approaches women’s wellness. I hope to be a ripple in the changing tides of practice around women’s education and care. I am a firm believer that partnership with your body is essential in the healing process. The work that we do promotes curiosity vs. fear and body kindness vs. reactivity. I am excited to continue to share this message in a space that is inundated with diet culture, over-restriction, over-medication, and unrealistic standards – it is needed!

I am most proud to be a part of women’s health transformations- big and small- both physical and mindset related. The a-ha moments are what this work is about.

Some shifts that excite me?

Helping women grow their families after a long time of feeling discouraged with failed fertility treatments.

Watching women become empowered in how to relieve their PCOS symptoms without medication and finally feel confident in their health,
Observing women fall in love with their bodies (without scale dependent wins) and find a healthy relationship with food for the first time.

Guiding women to get their period back with self nourishment strategies.

Seeing women change the way they speak to themselves and how they start to respect themselves in their life differently with boundaries and self care.

Watching women create routines in their life that allow them more joy and presence with their families and self.

A lesson I have learned along the way is that healing is not linear, as much as we would like it to be! Coaching clients to sit with the discomfort of the healing process is important in this work. Once a level of surrender sets in, it makes the health journey flow so much easier and become truly a beautiful process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE to just take a long walk around with a friend and a coffee!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful for all of the support I have had in my business over the last few years in the coaching and mindset space. Thank you Liz Wasserman LCPC and Garrett Wood for encouraging and guiding me to be a more authentic communicator and care provider.
