We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Luraschi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I come from a very small town in Colorado ; olathe. The population is only 1,800 people . Growing up I lost my mom at the age of 8 due to drug addiction, which meant I was always the talk of the small town gossip. Being brought up with no knowledge of healthy eating , proper hygiene or clean clothes often lead to awful amounts of bullying for me. I always believed that better was meant for me. My upbringing left me with a drive to better myself. It’s left an impact on me because I’ll never forget what’s it’s like to grow up without my mother , or constantly being the small town talk. I hope to see myself in a place in the future able to advocate for other young women who are also struggling .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After my fathers Stroke in 2012 I Want to do something in the medical field. I’m not completely sure where my heart is set, but I am working this year on starting classes to get my associates degree in science. I plan to attend Arizona Mesa University after graduation in 2023. In between getting my degree for science I plan to take Cosmetology classes at the local technical college to keep my mother legacy’s in the family.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coming from a small town there isn’t much but what there is , is nice. I would make sure to take my friend to a locally owned Mexican restaurant ‘Mi Rinconcito’ their food is delicious and the people there are always so nice !
It’s not in my town but I would have to make sure my friend saw the Ouray hot springs and while we were there we would have to stop and eat at ‘Bon ton’ restaurant. A common favorite for me is going up the hill to the local dairy to get ice cream and then driving on the backroads. You’ll see some of the prettiest mountain sights , live stock and houses on the way.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe everybody in my life Atleast one shoutout ! I couldn’t have done anything in my life without you guys ! I want to give a special thank you to my father who has done everything in his power to raise me as a single father . He’s the best I could ever ask for . I would like to recognize both of my mothers sisters Melanie & Molly for being two of the biggest supporters on my team. They’re my best friends in a family version. My siblings Sterling & Jacob who have always pushed me to be the healthiest and strongest version of myself through every struggle we’ve faced. My boyfriend who never fails to see my ambitions, will wipe my tears when I fall and help me get back up even stronger. Thank you guys , I love you immensely.
