We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Morlan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
The thought of taking a risk in any situation, of course is scary! However, if we want to succeed and be better today than we were yesterday, we HAVE to take a risk. The cool thing is the more risks we take, the more our self conscious and self awareness is developed. This is how I’ve learned new things, and surprisingly unforeseen opportunities have developed for me. Opportunities I never dreamt of! Only by taking risks have I faced my fear of if it would work out or not. What I learned is that I grew personally and professionally by taking risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my career in a small town as a makeup artist. My first job was with Glamour Shots and fell in love with the beauty industry! I went on to be a model scout for John Casablanca Modeling Agency. I worked at the modeling Agency for several years as a Makeup Instructor. I have worked for individual makeup brands and big Corporations. After 20 years in the beauty industry, I began to manage the artists. I then realized I loved finding undeveloped talent in the artist and developing them into whom they want to be. I realized I have a knack for seeing potential in the artists I worked with. I have always tried to lead them by exhibiting confidence while inspiring them with commitment and passion through clear communication while holding them accountable. It is important to maintain strong decision making abilities and to delegate and empower them with empathy and resilience. In my experience this can only be done with emotional intelligence, remaining humble and being transparent with my vision and purpose.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
When my friends do come to Dallas to visit, we typically do a lot of shopping and eating! Of course we hit up the Galleria Mall. We also love all the Boutiques in Plano Legacy West. Cabot Restaurant has delicious French food. Toulouse is one of my all time Favorites as well. Depending on the season they visit of course, but we always enjoy Christmas at the Gaylord Texan! It’s fun for the children and adults.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe everyone in my life has played a role in my success. The good and the bad. Of course the people closest to me deserve the most recognition. My parents, grandparents, and of course my children have been my driving force always. I would like to give a special shout out to Gina Keith, Victoria Hutcheson, and Shanitra Reid for their mentorship, and solid advice on navigating new challenges and opportunities.
