We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikita Wilburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikita, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I think starting your own business is amazing! It provides so much freedom.  However, it takes hard work and consistency to help you maintain it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am an Oncology Nurse and realized one day that I was not setting a good example for my patients. I begin working out and changing my diet and my patients begin to notice.  They would ask me, how to maintain their functional status during treatment. Overtime, I built Burn with Niki LLC.  My motto became “Your body was meant to move.” Teaching others you don’t have to be the beast in your workouts, but moving is very important for your health.
It was not easy building my brand. However, when you love what you do,  it motivates you to keep going. Some of the biggest challenges I have is being consistent on social media, but I remind myself that is how I share my gift with the world.
Lessons I learned along the way is to allow others to help you. There are people assigned to your purpose.
If I can tell the world one thing it would be to listen to your heart.  Find out what it is you really enjoy doing and go for it!
I love teaching classes and working out with my clients. I learned to never ask my clients to do something that I would or could not do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit I would take her to Belse, Eddie V’s or Paradiso Dallas.  We would go to uptown Dallas to shop at  some nice boutiques during the day time.  In the evening we would enjoy the Deep Ellum area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God has always been the driving force to help me achieve any goal. My husband taught me how to do my first push up and my children are my greatest cheerleaders! My friend Tomekia allowed me to workout with her 2-3 days a week. This taught me how to be consistent and I found myself working out on days she wasn’t available. She was definitely a wonderful influence that help change my life for the better.
