We had the good fortune of connecting with Yurisa Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yurisa, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Since I bake and sell at farmers market, my daughter is also inspired to do the same. Every Saturday you can see her sell cupcakes next to me at McKinney FM. The ability to bake and sell has given her confidence, communication and sales skills.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a bread baker, things can go wrong very quickly. Learn to think on your feet, and adapt.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would first go to McKinney Historic Downtown on Saturday morning for the farmers market. Get some bread or pastry from me, some coffee, tamale, taco, anything you can imagine, we have it. At 12 o’clock take the tour they have, you’ll learn a lot.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
People at the farmers market. Every week, they consistently show up. Even when the weather is unfavorable. Chef Frederic Hoel from Le Cordon Bleu who patiently reply my emails, even after I’m not student anymore. Chef Isra from Le Cordon Bleu, who keeps encouraging me. My family especially my sister and brother-in-law who are always ready to help me out.
