As someone who grew up with a fear of failure and financial trauma (yes, financial trauma is totally a thing) I didn’t know a thing about work/life balance. My motto was “all work no play.” I was proud of my drive and all of the accolades I had put under by belt! It wasn’t until my time as a graduate student I realized rest was also productive. Between my partner and me, I am the main caregiver of our children. I think I echo all dominate caregivers in a family when I say – there really isn’t a balance between work and life, they just kind of bleed together. Throughout the day, I am working in pockets of time that work best for our family.
