Where are you from and how has it impacted you?

Even if you are from the same neighborhood as someone else, you might still be coming from different places. Where you are from is a complicated question and it elicits complicated, but interesting and thought-provoking responses. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

I’m from Dallas, TX. My parents encouraged me to pursue a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Texas at Austin, since I was always good at math and science. Born & raised in Fort Worth, Texas baby!!! I grew up with truly fantastic parents. My mother is very strong-willed, woke af and warm-hearted. She taught me the importance of being a strong woman, no matter what life throws my way. I am from a small town in VA. My background and upbringing impacted me in so many ways. For starters I was raised by a single mom who was very hardworking, independent and someone who never gave up. I watched my mom face so many trials and tribulations but that woman never gave up and always made ends meet!
