We’ve always believed that forming a strategy is impossible until you’re clear on what your values and principles are.  Without values and principles to guide you, making decisions can seem impossibly difficult.  Given how important setting values and principles is to decision making we asked folks we admire to tell us about the values or principles that matter most to them.

Avery Johnson | Etiquette Consultant

Being Kind and Giving. These two principles create balance in life. Being kind helps you to stay calm and peaceful, it also helps block negative thoughts, energy, and people-you may not realize it, but it does. Giving creates a universal effect that enhances your life overall! Great things will always happen to you by simply being a Giver. It does not matter what form the gift comes in, it doesn’t have to be monetary. It can simply be time, listening to someone, helping someone do something without expecting anything in return-just Give! It makes you feel Happy, Grateful and aids in eliminating complaining. These two principles work great together and can make magic happen for you and those around you. Being Kind and Giving is the foundation to build success in business and your personal life. These principles prepare you for challenges and days in business where you want to throw in the towel. It helps to maintain your power and control of self and examine all of the great things that are actually happening around you. Read more>>

Jennifer Schnitzius | Director of Operations For DASH Network

This is a difficult question to answer as so many principles form our world views and shape our interactions with the world. However, upon further reflection, it seems clear that the principle that undergirds the others—and the one that led to my involvement with DASH Network—is love. When people use the word “love” in day-to-day conversation, they may mean one of many things: The definitions of love employed when I say that I love tacos versus when I say that I love my husband are two radically different meanings, and these are just two of many ways we use love in ordinary conversation. So, what do I mean when I say that love is the principle that matters most to me? The best explanation for the type of love I am referring to is found in the Gospel of John; Jesus explains, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This type of love is emblematic of self-sacrifice and humility; it is the type of love that Jesus exhibited in his life and death for us. Christina Suarez | Business Dev

This is an excellent question, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to share it with you! I am Powerful Love, Love is the most precious value that we have. Our whole purpose here on this planet is to Love. When we arrived on this planet we were an authentic pure form of our own loving individuality. I love this because it is who we are at its most loving and vulnerable core. As we got older we were told not to do certain things or told we don’t have the means to do it, and even taught how to fit into our “Matrix” world we all are accustomed to. Growing up for me, Charismatic Christina, I was taught to watch who I love, that you can’t trust everyone, that this is a “Man’s World” or Dog-Eat-Dog world. I felt I had to work twice as hard to be equal to others. All these beliefs downgraded my strengths in Love or my trust in the Pure Authentic Love I was born with. Throughout my life, I climbed up the corporate ladder, and realized I was climbing the wrong ladder:). Read more>>

Sunset Film | Sunset High School

The experiences. The moments. The memories. Sunset Film was first opened in August 2018. Our motto is to keep the memories, savor the moments, and strive for the experiences. In life, what makes our life rich and full, are the memories from the moments we meet and interact with each other. People come and go, people meet and people part. But what remains are the memories that we once shared. That is why we do what we do. We attend many events at our Sunset High School, volunteer with our local community events such as the Water Lantern Festival, Dash for the beads, Challenge Air, Dia de los Muertos, etc… to record and edit the events highlights, one after another. We want to promote our school spirit, our Bison pride, and to give back to our community. We hope our videos spark joys, that speak to many great things happening at our school, to encourage students to get involved and enjoy the high school experiences in any way possible. Years from now, we get older, but those highlights will always remain forever young, as once upon a time in high school. Read more>>

Destinee Sanders | Real Estate Professional

I value future generations above all because I believe our only job is to ensure the children who come after us live a better quality of life. Much of what I do on a daily basis is with the goal of impacting future generations. I started a YouTube channel to share what I had learned because I wished I learned it at a younger age. Future generations are also the ones who will care for us in our old age and so if we ensure they have all they need and desire they will return the sentiment. Read more>>

Kynedi Chrystine | Owner of Wellness Connect & Health and Wellness Educator/Coach

I value integrity the most! “Do it right, even if no one is watching” For as long as I can remember, I’ve naturally found myself in leadership roles. With that, I feel as though I have a responsibility. That responsibility is to lead by example, and inspire these “followers” to become effective wellness leaders of themselves, and within their communities. I have God, my parents, grandmother, and awesome coaches to thank for planting this core value in me. Read more>>

Antoyia Fortune | Bawse

I love that I’m building a business that prides itself on God First, Family Second, Career Third as its primary principles. Finding a company that aligns with my personal beliefs is a major win for me. When those priorities are in order, my life is in order. So many times in the corporate world, it is not “professional” to discuss your personal beliefs and my faith plays a major role in my life so being a part of a company that encourages having faith and speaking openly about it, I know is a gem of its time. Jamie and Landon Skelton | Artists behind Skelton Key Crafts

Landon and I both have day jobs outside of our small business. Even though we would love the idea of only running our small business , we find it important to not lose the fun we have with our art. A lot of artists try to turn their passion into a career and lose sight of why they started making their art. It is very important to us to not lose our passion. We don’t want our art to just feel like another job, but rather an outlet for our creativity. Read more>>
