While it’s inspiring to read high level summaries of success stories, we think it’s just as important to learn about what drove the success and made it possible. We’ve asked some of the brightest folks we know to open up about what they believe was the most important factor behind their success.

The most important factor behind my success has been limiting distractions and creating a balance between fun and business. I try my best to stay locked in on the task. “Lock In The Task” is a slogan I use to remind myself that I could be using my time wisely. I think people hear or use the phrase “entrepreneur” and associate it with creating something revolutionary or inventing something that doesn’t exist. I think far more frequently, successful businesses are built in already-proven markets by doing something differently or better than the existing options. That’s how Mazens came to be; I took something another company was already doing and did it in a more professional, approachable way while modernizing what I felt were outdated processes. When I think about factors that contribute to the success of my brand, I would have to say there are two. (1) My knowledge runs very broad and deep. I was that annoying student in graduate school who read all of the extra research and went down all of the unrequired “rabbit holes” to exponentially increase my understanding of human biochemistry and anatomy, as well as how the nutrients from our foods benefit our physiology. I think the biggest factor behind my success has been resilience. Not just bouncing back when things fall apart, but learning how to keep moving forward even when it feels like nothing’s working. I firmly believe that my Golden Retriever, Mushu, has been the sole reason my business exponentially grew over the last year. He was my first dog and he meant the absolute world to me. Unfortunately, we lost him to a long battle with cancer a few years ago and it was genuinely the worst moment of my life.
