We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

Success looks very different for each person. My definition of success is intrinsic, and it begins with my relationship with God, which guides how I treat people, help people, love my family, and the relationship is my moral compass. Therefore, impact and contribution define success to me – I want to make a positive difference in the lives of those I love and the community. I believe that we should leave a handprint of change in every aspect of our lives. In addition, leaving a legacy for future generations is essential to my success and how I would like those I impacted to remember me. Read more>>

The most important thing that I have done as a parent is to own my impact. As a mother, I believe that the greatest impact on society I can leave is my children’s living example and the values they propagate. With every path I have followed while navigating my personal career development, I aimed to show my daughters that in every effort, one must be an open channel for joy. Whether I was home after school and assisting them with homework, tutoring a teen student, counseling a client, or out on a photoshoot and sharing an encouraging word with a shy senior, my goal is to be transparent, inspiring and shine a light in the dark areas of the frame. I want my legacy to not only be as a talented massage therapist, but as someone in the community who used every resource to help make it better. Whether that looks like intentionally charging less than industry standards to make massage more accessible, or if that looks like using my studio for community events. I want to be remembered as positively impacting peoples health and wellness, and also making a difference in Oak Cliff. Read more>>

I want my legacy to be “She Did That!” She said she was going to start it, and she did, she said she was going to help, she did, she said she was going to build it, and she did! When people think about me and my legacy, I want them to remember I kept my word. My yes was yes and my no was a no. I want people to remember that I did things with integrity, class, and excellence. I want them to remember that I was a true REPOCHIC! Read more>>

After experiencing my own transformative healing journey, I founded Healing Home Reiki to share the wisdom and hope that helped me heal. My mission is to empower others to find their own path to well-being, offering tools and practices that guide them toward living a life they love.
I spent years struggling with chronic pain, a condition that left me feeling trapped and isolated. The constant pain sapped my energy, making it hard to focus, work, participate in fun activities, or connect with loved ones. Most doctors couldn’t help because the cause wasn’t visible on a test or scan. But I knew there had to be a reason why I was in so much pain, so I began educating myself, determined to get better. I have been in martial arts for years. I love the training. The training is great, but I realized that there is a large group of people who (even if they take martial arts) need a Real World self defense experience.
Instead of having a set location, I wanted to be 100% mobile so I could bring self defense to them. I go to schools to work with seniors going into college, businesses on their lunch break or after hours, and any group.
I wanted to create an environment where the group could train amongst friends, family and peers. Read more>>

The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was moving to Fort Worth, Texas and leaving my daughter in California. My daughter means the world to me. I want nothing but the best for her which was part of the reason why I wanted to leave Ca and move to Tx. That was the goal since she was in junior high school. The plan was, after she graduated high school in 2019, we would move in 2020. Well, 2020 happened and plans got changed. When I had the opportunity to move in 2022, my daughter decided to stay in Ca. I was devastated. I was now faced with the decision to either follow my dream and move or stay in Ca where I was not happy, but I would be with my daughter. Read more>>
