Hi MIke, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I came from a family who was self-employed. I had a fairly good understanding of the benefits as well as the responsibility, and was willing to take the risk. I wanted to build/own a business I could sell or pass down to my children. My philosophy was if I am going to work hard over the next 20-30 years, I would rather do it building an asset for my family as opposed to profiting someone else. Being a business owner has it pros and cons. It provides you some autonomy/freedom with your time, but at the same time you are never free from responsibility. It is not for everyone as you have to be willing to do what ever it takes, and sometimes that is not “convenient”
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are in the insurance & financial services business. We have the privilege to serve the public thru education and a wide array of products to protect as well as grow their assets.
I have always taken the approach to try to treat everyone the way they I want to be treated. Of course we are not perfect, and we get busy, but we make our best effort to help our customers find and choose the best solutions for their needs, while being there when they have questions or problems.
We have received multiple awards in our industry, and have been in the top 1% of the agency force with Farmers Insurance across the country for multiple years.
Our industry like all have their ups and downs and some years are easier than others, but we have found if we just take care of our customers and stay motivated, it all works out in the long run. I am very proud to be an Agent for Farmers Insurance. It has always been my experience the company values their customers and desires to do what is right given the current circumstances.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Frisco, TX is a great place for families! We have shopping, lot’s or great restaurants in the area, sporting events, etc. Because we are close to DFW, there is no shortage of things to do and places to go.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to say first my wife and children as well as my sister. My wife supported my efforts when our children were young and finances were tough. While I attended almost every sporting and school event of by children, there were times when I had to work and sacrificed some time at home with my children. My sister worked in my business in the early years and she was great help and encouragement.
