We had the good fortune of connecting with Zo817 and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zo817, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
To quit waiting. I decided that I was never going to get where I wanted to be by just thinking about it. First I had to get up and just be productive, playing video games is never going to build an empire. That one action led to setting goals and working to achieve them. That led to rising from bed with a purpose. That led to manifesting my goals. It’s the most important lesson anyone can learn: Quit waiting and get to work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my ability to learn, to analyze information quickly and act on it, coupled with my persistence, dedication and drive. So far, the most satisfying thing I’ve done is my work with Blind Prodigy, who is a young, blind musician. His dream is to make music and I have helped him where I can, we’ve done one event to raise money for him with a second one around the corner. To see him be able to realize his dream is one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of. My work ethic is what I give credit to for all of my success. Practice and hard work always pay off. That does not mean it was easy. Anything but, and it most definitely is not easy now. But that’s where the work ethic and hard work come in. In the entertainment industry, there are many traps, pitfalls and just plain greedy people that will hurt your progress along the way. You have to get up every time and learn from the mistake you made, but you must carry on.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Any music event in the Fort Worth area. I support any and all things DFW music related. That’s what we’re all about, creating a community for all local artists where we can work together and support each other. Support your local artist! And we are stronger together!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My cousin Eddie, he was in the music business well before I was. When I was a teenager he helped me see the way, he was able to help me break some bad habits and adopt some new better ones. Not to mention he was my original connection to the business side of things. Without him, I wouldn’t have even known where to begin. My big brother, for always loving and supporting me, no matter what.

I want to Shoutout Chaz Buchanan at Haltom theater for giving me a place to perform and throw some of my first events, he is another person that I feel opened a door for me.
