We had the good fortune of connecting with Yemi Solomon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yemi, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Hard work, resiliency, persistent, exceptional customer service and satisfaction are priorities regardless of the current situation to succeed. The year 2020 was an especially challenging year for businesses including GLAMORE. I was used to organizing events, pop-up shops, fashion shows, individual image consulting sessions etc. to showcase my products and services. I enjoyed the usual events, attendees’ interactions, and connections but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everything came to a sudden halt and global shutdown. GLAMORE could not host events and customers were not shopping online. During the shutdown, it was extremely discouraging, lost motivation, drive and creativity. Eventually, I had to motivate myself, made the decision to organize a virtual event to stay relevant and keep the GLAMORE brand trending by launching GLAMORE Virtual Personal Style Q&A sessions. From there Boss Babes 2021 virtual event was birth and hosted on January 30th, 2021 with five professional women industry leaders in fashion, beauty, skin care, and career coaching. It was a networking event to motivate, inspire and educate business owners, aspiring business owners, and women interested in networking and connecting with new people. Generally, serving others is my passion therefore my vision of Boss Babes focused on “collaborating with women to provide a platform to assist them with their knack in order to bring their dreams to reality.” Boss Babes 2021 was an incredibly successful event, attendees were motivated, happy, connected and provided impactful positive feedbacks to host future events. GLAMORE is so excited to host BOSS BABES Next Chapter with new speakers on March 20, 2021.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In 2009, while living in Newport News, VA, I launched GLAMORE to empower women of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities with the most UNIQUE fashions to “stand out” instead of “fitting in” and in 2010 relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. GLAMORE, an online women’s boutique and personal styling service, offers carefully curated, exclusive women’s clothing including runway fashions, statement jewelry pieces and accessories that are not common. GAMORE fashions including accessories are intended to make a fashion statement and create the “Wow Factor” every time you have on a GLAMORE selection. My goal is to enhance women’s personal style, corporate image, confidence, and empower them with all the tools to walk proudly as a style queen! I am excited when a client makeover is completed, it is very rewarding and priceless when they express their feeling of satisfaction about their new look, especially comparing the before and after picture. Discovering different ways of making outfits look magnificent on a client is my creative personality and I am proud when this is achieved. Hard work and dedication are part of the journey in life to build a career or business; it takes faith, confidence to push and stretch yourself to achieve your personal goals and business objectives. I understand that owning an online women’s boutique with the saturated market is challenging, but I did not allow that to deter my desire to succeed with GLAMORE. My passion and confidence in what I have to offer was my drive to succeed. It is the best decision I have ever made, it is extremely rewarding, and fulfilling to know that GLAMORE can provide products and services to women that makes them look and feel good. Lessons I have learned along the way are, be true to yourself, follow your instinct as there will never be a perfect time for anything, follow your passion, get advice, and always follow your dreams. “Let your passion and drive be your guide to succeed” In 2018, GLAMORE was presented the “Business of the Month” Award by the Epsilon Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated. Over the years, GLAMORE has presented fashion collections at notable fashion shows in Texas, Virginia, Georgia, and California, and has styled hundreds of women. The same year, GLAMORE was invited by Wow Creations to participate in the 70th Emmy Award in Los Angeles, CA. This was an extraordinary marketing/networking event opportunity. Wow Creations was intrigued by GLAMORE and extended another invitation to celebrate the Oscars, in April 2021. As a result of many accomplishments, GLAMORE has been featured in these publications, RED TRIANGLE, CITYBIZLIST, DO214 and DALLAS SITES 101. I am a creative by nature and I love to share my love for creative fashion with women and provide regular education on all things “GLAM.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love living in Dallas-Fort Worth/Texas because there are so much fun things to do. My friend will have the time of her life visiting places like Texas live, a very lively sports and entertainment center that features a variety of events, cocktail bars, giant sports TVs, and restaurants. Enjoy the indoor and outdoor games, live music, and concerts. Next, we will visit Rooftop Statler, that boasts stunning and unforgettable views of downtown Dallas with several siting areas like the private cabana where you can sit and relax, enjoy a bite or a drink and live music. Another favorite is to enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise on the Spirit of Dallas at white rock lake, the skyline walk trail at Trinity where you can enjoy a casual walk, ride your bike, or enjoy a picnic in the sitting areas. For night life, an evening at Sambuca on Friday night to enjoy dinner/dance, with a high-energy live band, dynamic light shows and gigantic video screens, the fun continues with a day at the famous Galleria mall in Dallas for a day of shopping designer fashions etc. Other places to visit are: Bishop Arts District, Dallas Toyota Music Factory, Dallas Museum of Arts, brunch at the Gaylord Texan Resort, lunch or dinner at Fogo De Chao and Morton’s steakhouse for meat lovers, crab station seafood restaurant, Truluck’s seafood and Gloria’s Mexican restaurant. We will end the trip with a weekend at San Marcos and visit the premium outlet mall that has two gigantic malls for exciting shopping extravaganza, then take a drive to the famous San Antonino Riverwalk. What an unforgettable week it will be!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very appreciative to everyone involved from the start and in my journey to success with GLAMORE, particularly my husband, sons, mentor, and exceptional clients. The advice, time, and mentorship over the years provided is invaluable. My deepest gratitude is to my loving husband for believing, inspiring, pushing and encouraging me to keep going when I felt like giving up. His support and presence at major events, locally or nationally means so much to me, and for that I am forever grateful. Thanks to my wonderful sons for assisting with projects, events and whatever I need, your effort is not in vain. To my mentor who consistently provides honest candid advice, resources, believing in me and GLAMORE, I am incredibly grateful. I cannot forget my loyal clients for their continued support over the years because without clients, there is no GLAMORE. Most of all, I am grateful to God for ordering my steps, guiding me throughout my success journey and opening unimaginable doors of opportunity. Thank you Lord!
