We had the good fortune of connecting with Xochilt Sierra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xochilt, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I personally feel that without taking any risks there wouldn’t be any success in the world. In order to have what we want in life we will come across risks & many challenges, however not many people feel comfortable taking them. We live in a world with corporate jobs and limited paychecks and that okay for some, but to me i felt i was made for more. I at once had a job , responsibility and a paycheck at the end of the week. Yes, i had stability in my life but not happiness! I felt God had other plans for me. I remember thinking about this new change, sleepless nights, feeling emotional, feeling lost from all angles. It look me 1 whole week to think about my new change and new life. One of my biggest motivation was my kids, i wanted to give them much more than what i had. That was to me my biggest push in taking this risk in becoming a business owner. What could i lose, i was young mother and i was ready to the world in my hands and succeed. Yes there was many many challenges and obstacles i came across, but i have always been a very positive person. I never gave up and kept going with building my clientele and meeting great people in this journey. Its been 6 years in the beauty business as a permanent makeup artists and i have nothing to regret. It has been a long road and tough on, but i will say without this risk i took i would not have accomplished what i have today. And most important to be able to spend time with my kids and family it is honestly the biggest and happiest blessing out of all this.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Becoming a small business owner comes with a lot of responsibility and duties. One of busiest things to do is to always give great customer service to my clients. Answering all questions when inquiring about the services, booking, location etc. Also when having your own thing going we all need to let others know about your business, right? So my biggest area i always keep my self busy is advertising and letting people know what i have to offer. I love to make videos, reels and posting on social media to inform everyone but in different ways and forms. Our main goal daily consist always planning, organizing, leading and controlling. This may sound an easy task but its a lot of responsibility for one person. Business personally isn’t for everyone, because it can bring a lot of stress withing ones life. To my experience i take it as a challenge in becoming a better person and learning new things everyday. What i didn’t know years ago, now i can say i know and to me that’s the best feeling and accomplishment. Building my business is not a burden but achievement to my life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to give my friends a wonderful and full experience when coming to visit me, with that being said one of my favorite spots to hang out and see what Texas is about are The Ft.worth Stockyards. The have amazing shows and great restaurants. However if more of an Asian/Chinese appetite, which is my favorite food i definitely recommend Korean BBQ & Revolving Sushi in Carrollton. The Asian experience is amazing from cooking yourself to robots taking your drinks and food. If your still not surprised and amazed and you wanting fancy & elegant, check out our Dallas Downtown, Ocean Prime is a great 5 star restaurant. Great to get the full 5 course meal experience, worth every penny. You want to get a little more fun, XOXO Dinning Room is a great girly spot to take your girlfriends and just be girls for a day. From great drink to amazing set ups to take great pictures. one of my favorite girly places in all Dallas. I simply love the whole pink tone decor, wouldn’t ask not anything else. What i can really say is that from bars to elegant dinners to summer patios or just a simple lunch, there’s something for everyone of your friends. But personally i have a small place for everyone, its just a matter of knowing your friends and their likes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All this effort would not have became true if my dad would of not pushed me as hard as he did. His always been my motivator in everything.
