We had the good fortune of connecting with Wilene Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wilene, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had worked in a different industry for 22 years and then decided I desired a business that I could do from anywhere and not sit in traffic unless I chose to sit in traffic. I then received a book from a Speaker, Author Dayna Steele. I contacted her and we began working together. WCD Enterprises was founded in October 2008 and are about to celebrate our 12 year anniversary. WCD is the business meant for me based on my strengths Woo, Influencer, Positivity, Connector. My thought process behind starting my own business was to create a business I enjoyed and working in partnership with others to help build business together.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the relationships with my clients and speakers. Professional meeting planners often ask me to come to events with my speakers because we develop such a great working relationship. My company motto is Booking Exceptional Talent is Easy with WCD. I chose artist / creative because I work with the most talented speakers, authors and entertainers. I read books that help me professional and personally for overcoming challenges with knowledge and changing perspective on anything that isn’t working. I recently did a podcast on the Spiritual Artist Podcast about using our word to create what desire. I have learned to partner with others, engage mentors, ask a lot of questions and share information. What I would want the world to know is people want to help, so ask and be grateful for those that have been apart of the journey. I would shout out to another amazing Speaker Dan Holdridge, who has also been with me since the beginning. Dayna Steele and I also, still work and collaborate together! Having good relationships is what sees me through!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the family type restaurants where they make you feel like family. Breakfast at The Coffee House on Frankford @ Preston and lunch or dinner at Casa Momma on Preston @ Mapleshade. I am a big fun of get togethers so that the people I know can meet the people I know. One of my favorite things is seeing those I have introduced building relationships. I enjoy The Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations is a performance hall which opened in September 2002 in Richardson, Texas. Other unique places like Astoria Caffe & Wine Bar, European-style cafe’ with coffee, sandwiches & desserts morphs into a relaxing wine lounge by night and Yogurtland is the ultimate self-serve frozen yogurt and ice cream experience where real ingredients make great flavors. and you can WII bowl with your friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dayna Steele, Speaker and Author of Rock to the Top, What I Learned About Success from the World’s Greatest Rock Stars whose book inspired me to represent her and she encouraged me to open my business.
