We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Values are something I uphold dearly. If I’ve made a mistake, I will right in whatever way I can. The most important values to me are honesty and integrity. They are the building blocks of my business and it’s something that, when clients hire me, they know that won’t be taken advantage of.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a birth doula and photographer. I support mothers throughout their journey of conception, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum. It is one of the most intimate jobs out there and I love every bit of it. The connection that develops between families and myself is like non other. I utilize holistic techniques and bring with me the love of The Lord to mother’s birth spaces. My business was born from the depths of postpartum depression. It has evolved so much over the past 5 years into something I never imagined it to be. What started as a hobby developed into a passion to change the lives of mother’s who birth their babies. I specialize in moms of multips, VBAC’s, and prior birth trauma. The road to where I am now was not easy and took a lot of grit and tears, but I am so incredibly proud of where I am now. I definitely owe my success to my husband and to the birth community for stepping up and mothering me, of sorts.
My favorite thing about my business is that I am a Christian and bring a holistic nature to births. I do not overstep my boundaries, but mothers who need this in their birth space know that they will receive that kind of support from me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is so fun! I actually had two of my sisters visit from out of town recently. We absolutely love checking out Legacy West and eating at Haywire. We also tour Grapevine and the Gaylord for all things Christmas. If we have time, we also love going to the Stockyards in Fort Worth!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so thankful for our birth community in DFW. I have so many birth mentors who have guided and cheered me on in my successes and failures. It takes a village to do what we do, and DFW is definitely not lacking in that department. The success of my business has been mostly from referrals from other birth workers because we know each others strengths and weaknesses and can adjust accordingly to give clients the best experience.
