We’ve had the good fortune of connecting with Voule Walker of Walker House Photography and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Voule, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve worked in a variety of industries over the last decade, but have always felt a creative need in myself that wasn’t being met. Photography has been a love of mine since high school, and it felt like a natural choice to start my own business and bring my unique perspective to the world and capture important moments for others.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I love to help my clients feel empowered and strong and beautiful in their skin. I love to experiment with fun poses and different ways of looking at the world, so that my clients can see all the different ways they’re amazing. My goal is to make sure that every client at the end of every session walks away feeling incredible about themselves and empowered.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many fun things to do in the DFW area that it’s hard to narrow it down! I’d definitely pick Trovato Street in Cleburne for some delicious chocolates and root beer floats, and we’d have to visit the Fort Worth Zoo (love the elephants and the giraffes!). The Dallas Arboretum is always a fun day out in nature with beautiful things to see – especially their amazing pumpkin displays in the fall. Mainstay Farm is a family favorite, and there are so many great parks for kids in the area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am lucky in that I have quite a few cheerleaders in my life. From the very beginning of our relationship, my husband has always been my biggest supporter and has urged me to follow whatever creative passion I have. I’d also love to give a shout-out to Loren Carlson Photography for her support and encouragement, and for giving me an opportunity to learn from her.
