We had the good fortune of connecting with Vineyard Chicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vineyard, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success is choosing love over fear. As a social media influencer, it is safer to let expectations about topic choices, product endorsements, and community drive your content. We made difficult choices to change our content, community, and product endorsements to follow our passion and love instead of conforming to what worked and felt safe.

We chose our love for music over our fears and kept making music videos, using our own music in our other content and creating jingles for product endorsements. Even though our livestream music shows do not earn monetization income, we chose our love for music and the friends who join our livestreams over the fear of loss. Vineyard Chicks now earn more money from playing live music at festivals and other local venues than we earn from our monetized content, reinforcing the importances of choosing love over fear.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We absolutely love the friends that come to our livestream music shows and, because they are so important to us, we learn their favorite songs and genres every week! KayKay (keyboard) can hear music like most people see color. She even hears the individual notes within chords and sight reads really well. Trie (percussion) hears beats and harmony lines that most people don’t even notice. Because of these gifts, we’ve learned a couple hundred rock, pop and country songs in less than a year. We’re basically a human jukebox that loves music and our community, and even though Bunkie is much younger she refuses to be left behind. Because of all that spunk, Bunkie adds so much personality to our shows and easily becomes the favorite chick in our Vineyard Chicks brand, which features three lead singers that can play well into the night.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Welcome to the mitten! That’s what Michiganders call our state because of its unique shape. We are Vineyard Chicks after all, and you won’t want to miss the Michigan vineyards here. We live on a vineyard and Michigan is filled with gorgeous vineyards offering music, crafts, and social events everywhere and every week. Plus, there is a sea-sized freshwater lake on three sides of our state. Technically, this makes Michigan a fresh-water peninsula with incredible light houses surrounding our shores and beaches up and down the state. Traverse City is a popular destination and it features some of the calmest waters and most gorgeous vineyards around. Michigan also features over 11,000 inland lakes, making it an incredible place for fishing and water sports. But if you only have a week to visit, you will definitely need to pick and choose.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Vineyard Chicks are three sisters and we owe our success to our parents. Our parents never tried to force us into a mold but instead celebrated our unique individuality. They encouraged us to follow our passions and to celebrate what we loved on social media so that we can share what we learn and love. Instead of forcing us to do what they loved, they challenged us to pick something we love and do our absolute best with it. It’s almost ironic that all 3 of us originally created content about very different topics, because we ended up playing music together, albeit on very different instruments.
