We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Zaragoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in California and my parents are from Jalisco Mexico. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s before iPhones and technology at our finger tips I enjoyed saving my money and purchasing fashion magazines. I grew up watching Cindy Crawford and Niki Taylor although they didn’t look like me I found a lot of inspiration in their styles. My Mexican/American heritage has always been in inspiration in my life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started in the medical field and I worked for many years in scrubs, although they are not the most fashionable I tried my best to always accessorize and stand out in my own unique way. After moving to Texas I realized that I couldn’t go back to the medical field and have a full time job because of my kids school schedule. I then decided to work part time in retail, that was when I was truly able to express myself through fashion. Til today I still work for Anthropologie which I one of the places that has truly thought me so many things in the fashion and lifestyle world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since my family is from California I would give them the full Texas experience. Stockyards and a good BBQ place are a must. The Botanical Gardens and of course visit as many small businesses as possible. Texas is so big that I would take advantage of the entire week and drive to Austin and Houston so much great food and diversity.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t of been able to jumpstart this journey without the help of my amazing husband and best friend Josue. His love and unconditional support has guided me through this process. My beautiful kids for always keeping it real with me and for being my biggest cheerleaders. Last but never least God for giving me the strength to continue and not quit when things got hard.
