We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Gamboa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I am a Mother of 2 young children. I hope the biggest impact of all that I’ve made on them is showing them genuine love no matter what. I just hope they know how much they’re loved and supported. As they grow older I hope to impact them with my strength and ability to overcome all obstacles. I hope they learn financial freedom early on in life and not let money run their life, yes it can be motivation for them, just let it be in a non materialistic way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was in retail the majority of my 20s and learned so much about customer service. I feel my great customer service skills really are what set me apart from others. Of course a great makeup application is what the client really wants, but if you don’t give them an great experience when working with them then they may not come back to you the next time they need their makeup done. I love making the client feel comfortable, confident and beautiful while they’re in my chair. Getting where I am today took a lot of hard work, I have sacrificed time with my children on the weekends for more weddings than I can count. I hope they see Mommy doing what she loves & are proud of me, because I do all of this for them. I want everyone to know that I’m not done on this makeup journey, I have so much more I want to accomplish and to build with more than just makeup, it’s a brand!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I rarely eat out but when friends come in town is when I like to experience great food spots! Because who doesn’t love good food and drinks?! Hero by HG Supply has amazing brunch! I love bringing them to The Daiquiri Shoppe, great drinks & their wings are so good! During the daytime, probably go to Klyde Warren Park and hit up the food trucks or go to a cool rootfop pool or to a spa and relax. For a night out, usually Deep Ellum, Uptown or the infamous Park Avenue.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that were very supportive of my makeup journey. There is definitely one sticks out the most and that is Misty James, she’s the Owner & Founder of The Dallas Makeup Team. We actually met working for another agency together, which I still do work for. She basically saw my talent immediately and taught me the “ropes” if you will. She talked me into starting airbrush makeup & personally taught me how to apply it. She’s always been there with every annoying question I had and full of the greatest MUA tips!
