We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Presume and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I actually never desired becoming an entrepreneur growing up. I always wanted to be teacher. I wasn’t taught or shown entrepreneurship growing up. It wasn’t until I met my husband, Frito Presume, the original founder of our agency, that it sparked something in me that I didn’t know existed. He started the agency when he was 16 years old. I watched and helped him behind the scenes for years build other brands, host sold out events, and manage artist. He taught me everything that I know now. He helped me unlock a gift in me that I didn’t know existed inside of me. We relaunched in 2015, yet I was still the “behind the scenes girl” that no one knew was apart of the business. It wasn’t until about 2019 that I began to step out more and become the face of our agency. We both left our jobs in 2020 and focused more on our agency as full time entrepreneurs. I’m so grateful for our journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
My career has transitioned over the years. When we first relaunched in 2015 to about 2018, our business strugglesd. We didn’t make a lot of money or had a lot of clientele. We sometimes worked for free just to build our clientele and resume. I remember one year only have one client for the entire year. It was hard. Because you think to yourself “What am I doing wrong?” But we never gave up. Aside from running our business, my husband worked 2 jobs to provide for our family, while I worked the back end of our business to keep it afloat. In 2020, a shift happened for our business. After all the years of being the underdog, we finally came out on top. People started to Notice our brand and what we had to offer. We made our first 6-figures, celebrated 5 figure months, and helped build over 500 brands.
I pride myself in not just building brands, but purposefully brands. I’ve helped entrepreneurs unlock gifts, ideas, and inventions that laid doormat all their lives. I’ve become their PUSH coach along the journey. What really sets me apart is because I really believe in them. I won’t allow my clients to settle or give up. Like my clients always say, I literally push their brands and visions like it’s my own. I’m passionate about what I do, and it’s felt in what I do and how I treat them. I treat everyone with the same respect, professionalism and work ethics whether you’re a celebrity or not. My team see’s it and feels it when we’re working with different caliber of people. The greatest gift in what I do is watching my clients flourish in their new transformed brands and businesses.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I just moved to Atlanta, so we’re still discovering the city ourselves. But I absolutely love to travel. As a matter of fact, I do it at least once a month. Whether it’s to an Island, hotel resort, or Orlando (my favorite vacation spot) I do it once a month.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost CHRIST! Giving my life to God at 23 years old was the best decision I’ve ever made. I wouldn’t be here or who I am without him. He saved my life, literally! Everything I have is because of him. Because of his promises he kept and fulfilled in my life.
Next, is my amazing husband. I’ve never met anyone in my life that supports, encourages and pushes me the way he does. He’s the one that introduced me to this industry and taught me everything I know.. When I feel like throwing in then towel or discouraged he prays for me and speaks life to me. He celebrates all my wins and helps me back up with all my losses. He’s my best friend! I refer to him as my personal brand manager because everything about me, he is helped consult and invest in me.
