We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I graduated college. I got a degree in nutrition and before graduating I knew it wasn’t my passion but decided to stick it through and just finish and figure it out later. When I was in college being a social media content creator wasn’t an actual career like it is now. It was more a career for people who were already famous. I knew traveling was my passion and I often thought about different careers that would allow me to travel. I also always knew I wanted to be my own boss and create my own schedule. I started posting on social media after frequently being asked about spots in the area to go for date night, birthday’s, best sushi, etc. I started to share my favorite spots in Dallas along with my travels and I started to gain followers from that. TikTok is what really boosted my following. I started to receive emails from brands and local spots wanting to work with me and that is when I knew I could actually turn this into a career. Sharing and creating content is what I love to do and every time I get a message from someone saying they loved a spot I recommended it makes me so happy. I love being able to do what I love and at the same time help someone discover an awesome spot to visit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Last year I quit my job and moved to Spain to be able to travel and experience life in a completely different environment than I’m used to. This was a very outlandish decision for me to just decide to move to a whole other continent. Most people weren’t shocked because they know I have always wanted to travel more, but some people thought this was an insane move to make. “Aren’t you scared?”, “Do you even know anyone over there?”, “You’re going alone?!”. For me it was thrilling and exciting to live this new adventure. I used to be scared to go on solo trips and after finally taking my first ever solo trip to the Maldives in 2021, I fell in love with it. This made me even more excited to move to Spain and travel all around Europe. In summary, I want to be able to inspire others to live an exciting life, make those scary moves and big decisions, quit those jobs they hate, put themselves first. It is so easy to stay in your comfort zone and look at other people’s lives on social media and wish that were you. I was that person; I would see everyone else travel and wish that were me. Now I can say that I am that person who is living her best life and who hopes to inspire and encourage others to do the same thing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I am living in Texas again so if I were to host a friend here in Dallas this is what we would do! I would definitely take them to either a Cowboy’s or Mavs game. We would visit Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum, Victory Park, and Uptown. I would take them up to the Reunion tower for amazing views of Dallas. Also would visit the rooftop Waterproof at the Statler and Sky Blossom. For dinner we would definitely check out Perry’s Steakhouse, Lexy’s, RH, Monarch, and La Stella. For brunch definitely Electric Shuffle and Yellow Rosa.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my audience for being so amazing and so loyal. It is amazing to me that through social media we can reach others and make an impact on their lives. I am so grateful that there are people out there that despite not knowing me on a personal level are so invested in my travels and my life. I feel very blessed to know that there are people out there that support me and are rooting for me. I am forever grateful for all of you!
