Meet Tyler King | Music Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, how does your business help the community?
Honestly, music kind of saved me growing up. I didn’t have the easiest childhood, and picking up a guitar gave me a way to let everything out, the good, the bad, all of it. That’s a big part of why I started King’s Music Academy. I wanted to give other people, especially kids, that same outlet.
I teach all ages, from little beginners who can barely hold the guitar to adults who’ve always wanted to learn but never had the chance. What’s cool is seeing how music changes people. You can literally see their confidence grow week after week.
For me, it’s not just about teaching chords or songs. It’s about helping people find something that makes them feel alive and connected. Music has this way of bringing people together, and if I can play a small part in that, that’s what it’s all about.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Music has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I play guitar, bass, drums, and a little piano, and for me, music has always been more than just notes—it’s been healing. I didn’t have the easiest childhood, and playing gave me a way to express myself and stay grounded.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach people how to play; I help them find purpose in it. I really believe God gave me this gift to help others, and that’s what drives everything I do at King’s Music Academy. Seeing a student grow in confidence or light up when they finally get something—that’s what keeps me going.
It definitely wasn’t easy getting here, but every challenge taught me to trust God and stay faithful. My hope is that through my story and my work, people see that their gifts can make a difference too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grew up in Blue Ridge, just north of Dallas, and now I’m in Melissa, so I know a lot of those hidden spots that give this area its small-town charm mixed with big-city fun.
First thing, we’d probably kick things off with some good food—maybe Hutchins BBQ in McKinney or Legacy Hall in Plano if we want a mix of great eats and live music. I’m big on music, so catching a show at Lava Cantina or The Rustic is a must. And if we’re in the mood for something really fun and local, we’d hit up Garhole in Anna for some good drinks, games, and laughs.
We’d definitely spend a day in downtown McKinney walking around the square, checking out the local shops and grabbing coffee at a cozy spot like Filtered or fōda. If it’s nice out, I’d take them to Lake Lavon to relax or maybe have a little jam session by the water.
On the weekend, we’d drive into Dallas for a concert or just to hang out in Deep Ellum—great energy, amazing food, and always something going on. But honestly, my favorite nights are the simple ones, hanging out with family, eating good food, and laughing until it hurts.
That’s what I love about this area—it’s got that mix of community, creativity, and good people that makes you feel at home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, all glory goes to God. Everything I have and everything I do comes from Him. I truly believe He gave me the gift of music not just so I could play, but so I could help others find healing, confidence, and joy through it too.
I also have to give a huge shoutout to my girlfriend, Chauntel Busche. She’s been such a big part of me stepping into my purpose and really believing that my gift could make a difference. She’s encouraged me to use what God’s given me to help others and to never forget why I started in the first place.
And honestly, I’m thankful for every student, every parent, and every person in the community who’s been part of this journey. They remind me every day that what we’re doing at King’s Music Academy isn’t just about music—it’s about people, faith, and purpose.
