We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ty, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is making the conscious decision to put my all into my business and staying committed to it. Nothing worth having comes easy. I had to be patience with myself and learn how to slow down so that I could speed up. I mean taking the time to put systems in place and outsource things I’m not good at and focus on the things I am good at and work on being great at those things. Also, remaining teachable and never stop being a student. Lastly, not depending on anyone to push me or encourage me. When obstacles come my way, remembering my WHY.
What should our readers know about your business?
We specialize in helping entrepreneurs and small businesses start, market and grow their business. We offer branding, tech setup, sales funnels, website design and digital marketing services. We have a true passion for helping entrepreneurs remove any obstacles prohibiting them from progressing in their business. In 2022 we launched our signature course called The Giant In Me Launch Academy, which we are so excited about. This 8 week course walks you step-by-step through building your business for success. By the end of the course, you will have a realistic plan to transition from your 9-5, have your niche selected, have identified and found your target audience, built your website and be ready to market your business.
My journey started when I was around 16 yrs old. I found a love for doing hair as a hobby and I had become really good at it. Word got out around school and I started having my peers request my services. This was my first experience at being an entrepreneur. Now, I didn’t realize what I was doing but I enjoyed the freedom of making my own money. That moment sparked a fire in me and I fell in love with the freedom that entrepreneurship provided. From there, I got my degree in MIS in hopes to fund my future business ventures. Since then I started a small trucking company which we did 500k in the first year and 700k the 2nd year. I also dabbled in a few other industries including cleaning, beauty and medical. During this time, I learned some much about business and most importantly about myself. I had some setbacks and a lot of victories along the way. Fast forward, I began to have a lot of my friends reach out to me for business advice and information on how to start their business. I realized I wanted to help other entrepreneurs who wanted to write their ticket to freedom like I had. I wanted to help remove roadblocks that normally kept people from launching and creating a sustainable business. So that’s how my company, Resource Bestie was born!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to visit Stirr for a nice Sunday brunch. Stirr always has good vibes and great food. Next stop would be the Hilton Anatole hotel. This is one of my favorite spots to visit for a day or for a weekend staycation. The resort has all the amenities you can ask for. Literally, you do not have to leave. The food is great and the staff is always welcoming. Lastly, for dinner I would take them to Monrovia lounge which serves Liberian dishes from my culture. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my husband and my two wonderful parents. My father gifted me with his entrepreneurial spirit and loved and supported me throughout my life. My parents were instrumental for who I am today and I can’t thank them enough for their unconditional love. My husband has supported my dreams, encourage me and been my biggest cheerleader. He has given me the space to pursure my passion and I will forever be grateful.
