Meet Trinity Ellis | Volleyball Player

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trinity Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trinity, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
A very important lesson that volleyball has taught me is that it’s alright not to be perfect. When I began playing for a club i was not the most talented, and I felt like I had to make every serve, pass, and play flawless. However, as I played more, I learned that even the top players at the highest level mess up sometimes. What truly counts is how you recover, help your teammates, and continue to give your best effort. Volleyball has taught me that hard work, growth, and teamwork are much more valuable than being a perfect player all the time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an athlete, I feel like something that sets me apart from others is my work ethic and determination. I am beyond proud and super excited to go to nationals this season with my team after qualifying in Philadelphia in the USA division. When I first started volleyball, I was very behind for my age and there were times where I thought about giving up, but I fell in love with the sport and continued to put 100% effort and continued to dedicate my time and that’s how I got where I am today. It wasn’t always easy. I’ve had to sacrifice time with friends days of school, and fight through the hard practices as well as tough losses. Volleyball has taught me so many lessons, but I think the most important is that communication is key no matter what you’re doing. Something about my story that I want the world to know is I actually started playing basketball but then when I switched to Volleyball, I instantly fell in love with it, which is why I continued to play and develop my game.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited Plano for a week, I would make sure we had an amazing time. We would kick off our adventure with brunch at Whistle Britches and explore the unique shops and art in Downtown Plano. In the evening, we would relax at Legacy Hall, enjoying food and live music. One day, we would hike at Arbor Hills, dine by the water at Granite Park, and savor fancy sushi at KĀI. We’d also spend a day shopping at Legacy West, trying out different restaurants, and playing games at Pinstack. We’d take a trip to Dallas to visit museums and enjoy some delicious BBQ. On our final day, we would unwind with brunch, grab some coffee, and watch the sunset at the park. Plano has fantastic food, exciting places to hang out, and something fun to do each day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my mom for always pushing me to be a better athlete and person. I also want to shout out my current teammates for always holding me accountable and having my back even in the bad games.
