We had the good fortune of connecting with TprettySmile and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TprettySmile, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision I have made thus far that has really contributed to my success would be stepping out of my comfort zone and host interviews. I started Real Raw Let’s Talk as only being a host of a podcast show. Mikahia High, an event coordinator, reached out to me after a referral to do interviews with her vendors which I had never done before or knew how to accomplish. She had seen a few episodes and loved my spirit and inquired to me about her event and even though I was hesitant and wanted to say no I figured this would be a way to get the word out about the podcast. I watched a few clips on YouTube of interviews and knew I wanted to be different. I thought to myself, “If I am a consumer what would I want to know before I purchased an item”. After building the courage to mingle the interviews came with ease. I realized people were more nervous of the interview than I was of interviewing the vendors. I always wanted people to feel comfortable because I know how it is feeling like your weird and uncomfortable and don’t like people to feel that way. I interviewed a lot of the vendors, and I was overjoyed and so were they. Real Raw Let’s Talk seed had been planted to interviews at not only more pop u shops and many entrepreneurs but various red carpets, behind the scenes with various actors and actresses, and business spotlight interviews. Today Real Raw Let’s Talk is not only a podcast it is a Platform.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Tprettysmile, host of Real Raw Let’s Talk. This platform gives birth to honest unfiltered conversation and discussions. What sets this platform apart from other podcast is guest are introduced to unknown topics where we share totally unscripted dialogue on various subjects, hence the name Real Raw Let’s Talk. Along with being an entrepreneur, I am also a home health care aid full time. I love caring for people and being that I have a big heart and love to be a helping hand where I can, and I wouldn’t have it no other way. Real Raw Let’s Talk shows how we can have unscripted dialogue and agree or not agree however find solutions in bringing up topics that are mandatory to have amongst family, friends, colleagues, and even neighbors. What brought my podcast about was due to me having a brain condition called chairi malformation. With having this condition, I began to feel down and alone. After finding an online support group I began to talk more about it and was able to open up. I’m doing this I knew there were others who may be struggling with various things worse than me and are not talking about it as well. After finding my voice again I realize there were many conversations amongst the world, cultures, and families that were being discussed. I began to write things I would see or hear that we ignore on a daily basis and birthed my podcast. I want people to know we get nowhere withholding knowledge and that no matter your unfortunate situations you can always turn them into fortunate lessons.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting the area and wanted a good time, I would definitely take them too, Dallas Farmers Market do a little shopping and seeing some great Dallas entrepreneurs then head over to Painting with Kinfolk where we can paint, relax, and also enjoy some great jams while enjoying everyone’s company. I would also encourage them to go to Whiskey Hatchet for axe throwing, Rainbow Vomit to create content, and the Improv to hear and see some great comedy. I can’t forget the extreme VR at Electric Gambox, Rage Room, and the Dirty Laundry Lounge.
