We had the good fortune of connecting with Tory Saks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tory, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance is something I am always striving to have in all areas of my life! Some days I do a better job at this then others. The truth of the matter is that change is our only constant in life – this means that every moment of every day we are different and our lives are different.

When I worked in marketing before transitioning into wellness and energy work I felt like I worked a lot and my work/life balance wasn’t that great. It seemed like a lot of work and no play. You would hear me say a lot of times that I was chained to my desk. I actually probably work more now than I did before, however, I feel much more connected to my work and I am very passionate about helping others and educating about what I do.

The core and foundation of what I do is helping others open the door to unlock their full potential of who they are by clearing what no longer serves them using tools such as Reiki and Crystal Healing. Essentially I am all about the self care platform and reminding others to take time for themselves, especially if our cups are not full how can we be there for others, especially our loved ones.

With this basis, we have to remind ourselves that we are not perfect, maybe balance doesn’t look like an even split of all areas of your life for you, however, it is in “balance” for you in a way that works best for how you live your life. Now I am much more conscious of the rhythms of nature to help me come back to balance. For example in the winter months – this is the time to rest and go inward, I have to remind myself that I may not be able to get as much accomplished as I would in the summer months – as this is the most active time of year.

As I continue to get more connected to nature everyday and follow her lead, I am able to see just how much more balance is present in my life and how there is less resistance. If you are looking to bring your life back into balance and right relationship – reach out to schedule a session with me!

What should our readers know about your business?
Previous to being a Crystal Healer and Reiki Practitioner I worked in marketing for 10 years before quitting my job to have my own “Eat/Pray/Love” moment and moved to Spain to learn Spanish. Upon moving back to Dallas, I also came back with a pallet of olive oil which I import from Extremadura, Spain called Aqua et Oleum – meaning Water and Oil in Latin.

Giving you a little bit of background about my journey, in 2016 I had decided to go holistic as I was struggling with allergies and was not ready to start taking allergy shots at 28 years old. I thought – there has to be another way and there was – I discovered Ayurveda, originating from India. I love the holistic approach to living that Ayurveda has. With my Ayurvedic practitioner I was on a yoga retreat in Tulum in 2017 and there I was lucky enough to have my first Reiki treatment. Ever since that first Reiki Treatment, I’ve received Reiki every month. I even received Reiki while living in Spain during quarantine!

Reiki literally means Universal Life Force Energy originating from Japan, then coming to Hawaii, and then finally the mainland United States. It is considered a bio-field therapy, a form of energy therapy, it utilizes placing the hands, or hovering the hands on the body to aid in the healing process like other ancient practices that have been used for thousands of years. Reiki works beautifully with Western medicine and medical treatments, it’s safe and has no bad side effects!

We all have Reiki within us, however, I have been attuned to be a conduit of this Reiki energy to help open the doors to healing whether that be on a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual level. Think of me like your own personal pool cleaner – I clear away all of the debris that is no longer serving you and help you to release emotions and situations that are not in alignment with you.

There are so many benefits to receiving a Reiki treatment. Within myself I have noticed decreased stress, anxiety, and depression and increased energy levels. Reiki works on all levels of the body. My tagline is “Clear your path to new beginnings!” and this is my intention when working with my clients either in person or virtually. Whether that be to help clear away a feeling of stagnation or being “stuck” so that you can feel like you can move forward in you life or helping you find the beauty within yourself, maybe removing an emotion that is held in the body, or a trauma from a situation that is holding you back from being optimal.

Every person is unique just like every treatment is unique as we are constantly changing. My hope is that I can help you by removing what is standing in your way so that you can live a higher vibrational life! Clients have reported having improved sleep, decreased pain, increased mental clarity and focus, increased energy, increased healing – especially after a surgery.

During a Reiki treatment I may be called upon to use essential oils, flower essences, or crystals. I didn’t realize before going through Crystal Healing training that I was already gridding people intuitively with crystals. Although there might be Reiki present in a Crystal Healing, these are two different treatments that I offer.

In a Crystal Healing I invoke the crystalline energy from the crystals to help facilitate healing and change in the bodies. Crystals are very powerful and they vibrate at a much higher frequency then we do as they come from the Earth. During a Crystal Healing, similar to a Reiki I am calling upon the wisdom of the ancient art of placing stones/crystals directly on the body to help facilitate transformation within my clients.

To be clear, these changes and transformations can only occur if the client or recipient is ready and open to receive. I have facilitated in person and virtual Crystal Healings and I have seen some very powerful changes within those recipients. Clients have noted that they are able to better receive joy and love in their life, they have improved sleep and peace, and have released pain in the body.

Depending on the Crystal Healing treatment and your intention for your session you are able to do a past life or future life regression, inner child work, uncover the origin of a family or personal pattern or belief, the root cause for dis-ease in the body, or simply to find greater peace, and so much more!

I end all sessions with card pulls as I think it’s always a fun way to put an added exclamation point (!) at the end of your session and healing. I look forward to facilitating your very own unique session in person or virtually! I invite you to stop by my website to learn more and of course you can reach out to me directly with any questions too!

I’m very lucky to have the support of my family through this journey, from moving to Spain and then also deciding not to go back to the corporate world. It was definitely a risk going this route, however, I am more at peace with this decision every day because I know this is the work I am meant to do. Seeing how people feel and the pain they are in before they are on my table and afterwards is truly transformational. Starting my own business has been a growth and expansive experience, one that constantly keeps me on my toes and rooted in helping others. That is my passion, to help others and bring a little light and joy to their lives as they take a new step forward in whatever direction resonates with them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to go and spend some time is at the Dallas Arboretum – I really love going before they open with member mornings. I get lost in all of the flowers, blooms, and smells. Sometimes I like to bring a book and just let the power of nature engulf me and other times I prefer to walk around. The Dallas Arboretum truly makes me feel like I am somewhere else besides Dallas. There are some parts of the Arboretum that remind me of some of the parks and gardens in Spain. It’s also a great place to bring a blanket and have a picnic.

If I were to theme one day over in this area we could be at the Dallas Arboretum and then head over to Kalachandjis for either lunch or dinner for some really good Indian food and the atmosphere is so fun being in the Indian temple. Both of these places are near White Rock lake, one of my favorite places to walk. Here too feels like a place where you can go and you aren’t in the hustle and bustle of the city. One thing that is really fun to do here is to watch either the sunrise or the sunset. Watching the different colors of the sky against the water of the lake is truly spectacular and magical.

I’m a big sucker for Farmer’s Markets – there are so many good ones to go to like the Farmer’s Market in downtown Dallas or the ones in White Rock/Lakewood area, and even in between!

I’d show them Bishop Arts with so many good shops to go in and look at with unique finds and tons of yummy restaurants and types of cuisine to sample – I’m a sucker for Tribal All Day’s beet latte and beet juice, honestly anything that has a beet there I would gladly enjoy!

If we stay on the more shopping side of things I’d also take them to Highland Park Village, first off the walking around there is so much fun, then there are some really cool shops and designers to choose from. After that we might pop into one of the restaurants and have a bite to eat.

Speaking of more food – you can’t not stop by Dallas, Texas and not get your hands on some good ‘ole Tex-Mex. With all of the different places to choose from you won’t not have good Mexican food during your stay in Dallas! I love some of the old school joints that you can find on Maple Street or some of the other offerings along the way.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my friend Yvonne Futch. If it wasn’t for Yvonne I don’t think I would be writing this right now! Yvonne and I met in Tulum in 2017 and that was where I was first introduced to the healing power and modality of Reiki which translates to Universal Life Force Energy. There in Tulum, Mexico I had my very first Reiki session and since then I’ve had one almost every month.

Reiki affects each individual in a different way. For me personally I have noticed a reduction of stress, anxiety, depression and increased mental clarity and focus just to name a few of the benefits. After moving back to Dallas from Spain, Yvonne told me that she was starting to teach Reiki certification classes. I knew that I needed to be there – at the time I thought it was just to put the healing power of Reiki in the olive oil I import, however, Reiki had other plans for me.

After certification, I was able to lean on my friend Yvonne as she helped me navigate life with Reiki as a part of it, on a more personal level. I started practicing on family and friends after my Level 2 certification and realized that I was meant to help others and aid in their healing journey with the power of Reiki.

I’ve been very lucky that Yvonne has already had many years of experience and I could go to her with any questions that I had and she would help point me in the right direction either on what to expect or on where to find the guidance and answers to my question.

Now Yvonne and I share a space in Uptown Dallas where she offers workshops like her Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki Certifications and I am able to give my Reiki and Crystal Healing sessions out of. We also have a little shop boutique where we sell products that can help you lead a higher vibrational life. We have named our space The 203 Uptown, a space for everyone, a place where self care is approachable, a place for classes and workshops, and a place to build community.

Life is truly a journey filled with many twists and turns and I feel very lucky and fortunate to have both Yvonne and Reiki in mine. I am so grateful to my friend Yvonne Futch. She feels more like an older sister to me then a friend.
