We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Lecuona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tori, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Going through the thought process, once I realized that I truly wanted to start my own business I knew that if I was going to be successful at being my own boss then my business had to be something that I was passionate about. For myself I needed it to be a passion of mine in order for me to always work hard and not burn out. I did not want to start something that I could not give my all, as I knew I wanted to create something that I could be proud of.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Here at Party Girl Event’s, we are a home-based business out of Denton, Texas that comes to you and your event wherever you are in the DFW. We also help in finding and booking your event center if needed. Party Girl Event’s offers grab and go balloon work and custom party decor pickup as well. We are most proud of the fact that we custom quotes for every event so that we can offer something for every customer that wants a special aspect or little party magic to their event, whether that be a full-scale picnic party with a balloon garland, simple party kit for at home parties, or a balloon cluster with a stuffed animal for the special guest. As for how we have come this far since March, has been one of my biggest challenges as I am strictly just a one woman show that does all my own photos, marketing, and social media management. I use my own vehicle for Party Girl Event transportation, but I have had to rent a U-Haul a time or two for larger events. I would not say it has been easy, but it has been accomplished and is possible for anyone with hard work and dedication. Along the way I have learned to always get a invoice signed, and deposit secured before placing anything on your books and to always get full payment before the install or pick up to avoid any loss. I would love for the world to know that our brand is a first-generation Latina owned business that strives to create a magical touch on any party/event that it touches and empowers women, young ladies, and little girls to one day be their own kind, passionate, extraordinary Female BOSS.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting from out of town for a weekend trip and wanted to take them around my local small town in Denton, TX we would start off with brunch one day at Seven Mile Cafe to grab some yummy Mimosas and Eggs Benedict, after doing so I would I probably go out for a day of retail therapy stopping at Hobby Lobby, Target, TJ Maxx, and soon to be Nordstrom Rack. Which I am so excited for. After a little shopping I would hit up Allure Nails for a Mani/Pedi, while also grabbing an Iced White Mocha from Starbucks, hold the whip. Once done with a little pampering we would stop by my parents’ home for a quick hello and then head out towards Corinth to grab some yummy Tex Mex for lunch or maybe dinner at that point, The spot is name Angelina’s, and they have some of the best food and delicious Margaritas. They also carry some really good desserts if you have room after also the queso and margs. After Angelinas we would head back to the house for a fun game night.
On the second day we would start off at Cartwright’s on the square, they serve breakfast and lunch but are primally known for their country home style breakfast. After filling up we would take a stroll around the square checking out all the local small-town businesses and vendors. Once done there, we would then stop by the local Denton community market off of Mulberry St. to browse through the various treats and products sold there. We would then probably wrap that up for a quick afternoon rest and refresh. We could then head back out for lunch at Barley and Board on the square as well that serves some amazing craft food and beverages. Their menu is so delicious. once we’ve checked out from there, we could head over to the Horse’s Ax for some fun Ax throwing or check out Andy B’s for some bowling and drinks. Afterwards to continue the party and fun night, we would bounce around from the Wild Cactus, Eastside, or El Taco H for drinks and maybe some dancing.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So, once I really thought about what I might be passionate about, I added in my skills/strengths. For me that is planning, organizing, attention to detail, and of course putting together a Great Party! With the process I was about to come up with Party Girl Events. Now that might be the name of my small business, but it also holds a lot of meaning into the startup and vision of my small business. I am the mother of two girls, my oldest 11 and youngest 3 and I have always loved executing the perfect birthday or holiday party for them ever since they were born so they are huge credit to my small business. I also owe a major shoutout to my amazingly crafty mother for not only birthing me but also giving me such a magical childhood when it came to my own party experiences. Growing up my mom always gave me outlets and tools to express my creativity in my own organized way from her being my troop leader in girl scouts, always helping with spirit week/weekly banner paintings in cheer, or just making holiday baked goods for classmates/friends. Party Girl Events is truly so fortunate for all the amazing women and young ladies that have helped give us a dream and drive in our small business and last but not least I could not forget my amazing husband that is always so supportive and helpful with my ideas and work, especially the work that requires height. Fun fact about myself I am only 4″7″ so he is truly a lifesaver at times.
