We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonéa Greer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tonéa, what are you inspired by?
Literally life. I know people say to “Enjoy the moment” but it’s so important to capture moments because when you look back, they’ll only be memories. What better way to compliment your memories than having a photo along with it…?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My motto is, “Capturing moments, creating memories!” I shoot photography with the hopes of catching authentic moments. Sure, some work has to be posed but overall, I want my photos to be appreciated by your grandchildren’s children. I want my photos to experience longevity past my life. Overall, I’m just proud of myself, period! I’m an introvert and that can sometimes play a role in being approachable or even just approaching others. Photography has allowed me to break out of my shell, I’ve walked up to people asking to take their portrait and my camera has been a conversation starter, like a nice little wingman. Professionally, I have a long way to go but as far as photography goes, I’ve started 2021 great and made beautiful connections so far with like-minded people. The connections are genuine and we’re just trying to see each other succeed. This road has never been easy for me. I’m often praised for my work more than booked for my work, but I just keep shooting because I know someone is always watching. Lessons have been learned and I’ve finally understood my weaknesses and how I’ve held myself back. I put a little more blame on myself but I’m slowly making the necessary adjustments as I speak. I just want people to see my work and know that it’s me. I want people to feel these emotions through an image and appreciate how I turned a moment into something more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I mean we’re definitely not going somewhere EVERYDAY, even on a visit, resting is required!. We’ll definitely hit up a concert or two because music is important, but I’d definitely take my friend to this concert called, “R&B Only”! Depending on which friend visits, will determine if we choose a club or strip club!🤣 I like being active, so we’ll definitely do some go-kart racing, indoor skydiving and rock climbing. Brunches can be an everyday thing though because it’s just too many good spots to choose from, but we’ll be starting at “The Biscuit Bar.”

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s been the support from family, immediate family, but I really have to give love to my mother, she’s offered so much support and love, it’s ridiculous. Every little thing I bother her with, she chooses to respond with encouragement and offers financial support within the drop of a dime. Wow!
