We had the good fortune of connecting with To’Ccorra Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi To’Ccorra, what are you inspired by?
I LOVE this question. I’m not asked it often, at least not directly. I’m inspired by the people and events around me. Most of those closest to me are either also creatives or I’ve known for over a decade, so there is a strong connection between us. Having a circle of friends and acquaintances who share a common interest I believe is vital, especially if you are a creative entrepreneur. It’s easy to become discouraged in the age of social media, being able to turn to those who get it, whether it be another blogger, a DJ, a stylist, a writer, a singer, someone is there to give you a push. And those same individuals’ grind and creativity does something to you internally constantly sparking a fire they may not even know they create. That’s why it’s important to give people their flowers while they can smell them!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an influencer and brand manager. I help build brands. This started from a love of seeing people’s dreams come true. I refer to myself as a “passion pusher”, I believe everything can be turned into a paycheck. If you love it enough, we can figure out a way to turn it into a profit. What sets me apart from others is it is not about the money for me. It never has been. There are a lot of consultations that end in me not signing that client and it’s because I showed them a way to make money without paying me 4-figures a month. And I’m proud of that. I know my purpose is and will always be to help others and if I put a dollar amount ahead of that it will backfire. Getting where I am today wasn’t easy. Like most entrepreneurs, I did a lot of free or almost free work in the beginning. Both with influencer work and branding/social media. It took time and a lot of days where I’ve wanted to quit to reach this point, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, if they arrive for the weekend, of course, they have to check my Instagram for the Weekly Weekend Preview! I post it every Thursday afternoon. It shows some of the best things happening in the metroplex. Let’s play it that way, shall we……Thursday I’d have them check out Dallas Black Canvas for open mic night. Friday night fun, with some good music and drinks, has to be Burger IM in the West End. Saturday calls for people watching and food trucks at Klyde Warren Park, followed by Sunday brunch at my fav spot Pangea. Monday, they have to visit the Perot Museum and then dinner at Terrelli’s and dessert at Val’s cheesecake. Time for TACO TUESDAY!!! That means birria tacos and Mexican candy shots at Del Sur Tacos. Wednesday we’ll wrap it up with lunch at Daliah on Ross before their flight out. That’s a pretty good week if I must say so myself.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an amazing tribe of people around me who help keep me sane and healthy. My family is everything to me and my best friends are like family. If I were to dedicate this to anyone it would be them. Those who get me through the good and bad days. They are the ones who have shaped me into who I am. Everything I do is to make my parents and grandparents proud, I hope I’m doing that.
