Meet Tiffany Peters | Risk Manager & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk, I think about taking chances regardless of a positive or negative outcome. Ultimately, I know I’ll end up exactly where I’m supposed to be. Taking risks has played a significant role in my life. I was born and raised in Florida. Post college graduation, I took a leap of faith and decided to move to another state without any hesitation for a job opportunity. Little did I know, that opportunity would lead me to where I am today. Taking that leap of faith really pushed me out of my comfort zone and expanded my outlook on so many things. It’s been 8 years since I moved from Florida, and 3 states later, I’m a homeowner, business owner, and dog mom. Had I not taken that risk on myself, Lord knows my life would have looked completely different, and I’m thankful for my experiences along the way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d always been a photographer in my eyes. From the mini Vivitar video cameras to the original Sony Cybershot cameras from back in the day, you’d find me snapping pics of any and everybody. A photo of a tree, a bird, a plane, a fountain, a baby, you name it! My love of photography eventually grew into something more. In my collegiate years, I started using my brother as my main subject and taking graduation photos for friends and family. I’d built a name for myself and even a clientele. Things were going great, and then I moved states to lock in a job opportunity, so my photography fell by the wayside. After a year of being in my new state, I decided to take a chance and purchase a new camera where I fell back in love with photography again. My coworkers turned into my clients and I was back in the game like I never left. What I’ve realized over time is that for me, photography is like riding a bike. No matter how much time passes by without me taking a photo, I can pick right back up where I left off. The biggest challenges I’d say I’ve faced would be starting over again in each new state and having to rebuild clientele, however, I believe my work speaks for itself. I have been able to book sessions in every state I have lived in, and for that, I am blessed and so grateful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s funny, 2 of my best friends visited me recently and I made sure they enjoyed their experience. Unfortunately, 2 of the restaurants that I’d taken them to are no longer operational at this time, however, let me give a breakdown of where I’d take them now. So say they come in on Friday, we are heading to dinner at Haywire Uptown, and then heading to a Mavs game. Sunday, we will head to church and then go for brunch at Brunch Room Bistro for the vibes. Let do a little shopping at the Allen Premium Outlets, following brunch. Monday, we will head to brunch, and spend the rest of the day relaxing at WorldSprings. We can finish off the day for dinner at Kitchen + Kocktails. Tuesday-Friday, honestly, just playing it by ear, maybe catching a rodeo because well, we are in Texas!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without God and my support system. My family has been there every step of the way and has always pushed and encouraged me to follow my dreams no matter how big or small. They taught me that anything is possible as long as I keep my faith and of course, take action. My friends, turned family have been my sounding boards for years and I am so appreciative for them just being there along the way. My parents, my brother, my friends, my boyfriend, God, my dog Gizmo, my entire support system, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without them. I want to make sure they know how much I love and appreciate each and every one of them.
