We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiara, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I had two children at a young age. I always wanted them to have more than I was given. I ensure when I live my life I live with purpose and intention. This way I am not wasting my time and look up and notice I have done nothing for their future. I live based on a no excuse policy. I ensure I instill this in my children. I also let them know they are in charge of their lives and their days. So they must be very cautious with the words they speak over their lives and the people they allow in their space.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently work in the E.R. I will be transitioning into my new role as a RN in the NICU over the summer. I also own and operate a online business for hair and skin care. The person I am today was a journey. I had a very rough start. Some self inflicted some not. In this journey I have learned it is very important to implement a positive mindset throughout any obstacle you are going through. I spoke life into my situation when I felt there were no better days coming. I knew failing was never an option. Failure only comes when you quit. How could I quit when I knew I had children counting on me? I also make it a point to live within Gods purpose. I have always been a very social individual. People naturally gravitate to me. The saying “I never meet a stranger” is true for me especially. I found myself having to share my journey and counsel those that I come in contact with. I feel that if you have a testimony it is your requirement to share it. The situations we endure are not always for us. It is to encourage and be that light to others so they know they can make it out. I am a testament to that. Obstacle coming left and right, I never gave up. I always remained positive. I knew God would have all the glory.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally love to eat. So any place with good food and drinks I am there. We would have to head to Dallas, Deep Ellum, there are even a few places to visit downtown Fort Worth. It would just depend on the vibe that they are going for.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a very strong village. My children, husband, mother, and grandmother have been my saving grace.
