We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Tyree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiara, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking in general is a practice most people use in their everyday life. You take risk falling in love, making friends, taking on a new project or just simply posting on social media. I used to take hours sometimes even days to make a decision but now I’ve gotten to a point in my life and career where risk taking is necessary. I recently opened my own online apparel store, The Potty Mouth Store. Before opening the store, I’d put together designs and only give them to my friends and family as gifts. It was comforting to just say “one day I’ll sell my ideas”, instead of actually putting in the work. The Pandemic forced me into extremely uncomfortable situations that required me to task risks. I’m still navigating the entrepreneurial world but whether its a lesson on processes or the gratification of a sale, risk taking has paid off.Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Potty Mouth in the Kitchen was established in 2017 and has been growing ever since, Potty Mouth in the Kitchen is a food, spirits and lifestyle platform. PMK content revolves around keeping up with the newest food/drink trend, trying new things and exploring local entertainment. This past year PMK has worked with brands such as the Dallas Mavericks, Maker’s Mark, Sunkist, Empress Gin and more! Being able to work with big brands and get paid has been the greatest reward of 2020. It took me over three years to get my first check. Getting into digital creation isn’t easy, you have to stay up with trends, now your audience and be consistent even when you don’t get the interactions. We live in the era of like, comment, and save so it’s easy for comparison to sneak in doubt. Don’t let the doubt get to you, dig in and do the work. It’ll pay off eventually! Through my labors with PMK I was able to establish the Potty Mouth Store. Currently you’ll find apparel with quirky and funny sayings that reflect current pop culture. I’m in the process of expanding my catalog to branded jewelry and swimwear. Opening a store and wearing multiple hats does get overwhelming but I’ve learned to say when I need help and how to use my resources. I’ve always prided myself on always being able to figure out anything but quickly realized that my pride will sometimes leave me stagnant if I allow it to happen. Being an entrepreneur is about embracing evolution. It can get ugly before it get pretty but keep moving forward. If you have an idea— plant your seeds, nurture your seeds and have patience.
