Meet Tiana Kage | Drag Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Kage and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I truly believe that my career as a drag entertainer pushes the limits and social boundaries of gender. Gender expression is so important but often we are discouraged from expressing our true selves by hiding behind what society has claimed to be acceptable and valid. As a drag artist I can encourage others to purse their own gender expressions and who they truly are.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Tiana Kage is my drag persona. She is strong and independent! She is banjee but yet so very glamorous. She is the ultimate BRATZ dolls in human size! Tiana always represents black excellence and is proud to stand with BLM and the LGBTQ+ community. The name Tiana came from the first and only black Disney Princess Tiana from the movie “The Princess and the Frog”. Tiana is much like the Disney Princess as she is determined and works very hard for everything she does. Tiana doesn’t just “wish upon a star” she puts in the effort and passion to fulfill her dreams! Tiana brings a new style of dancing inspired by J setting, Majorette, Vogue, Hip-hop, and Cheer.
Getting to where I am as an artist definitely had its ups and downs. It didn’t come easy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am proud of how hard I have worked to get to the place where I am now. I have pushed myself and pushed boundaries to make myself a better artist and a better person. I am so grateful for what Drag has taught me thus far.
I want the world to know that Tiana will always be a dreamer and you should be to! Don’t just wait for your dreams to come true but work hard to make those dreams your reality! Be a Phoenix rising from the ashes! Don’t let the magic fade from your life, let is sprinkle all around and have fun while working to fulfill your dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite places to go would be the strip on cedar springs. My home bar “Roundup saloon” would be the first place to go! I am the reigning Show down champion season four at the roundup saloon! The roundup has made me feel like family with open arms and generosity! The Roundup Saloon has a drag shows Sunday through Thursday where you can catch me very often at the shows! They also have Karaoke every night of the week! Another place I would recommend for a great time would be Havana lounge. Havanas is a Latin bar with class and couture. Havanas has a show every Friday called “Kage and co”. It is hosted by my wonderful mother, Marissa Kage with myself and my drag sister (Lyte Kage) and special guests every week!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been many in my life that have encouraged me in my career and my life as a drag artist and entertainer. Firstly I would like to thank God for the opportunity he has given me and all the blessings he has bestowed upon me and my life! I would also like to thank my Drag family, my mother (Marissa Kage) my drag sister (Lyte Kage) and my Drag grandmother (Mayra D’Lorenzo) for the mentoring and many hours of encouragement they have shown me! I would also like to thank Emeka Bless who has been a huge mentor for me and my drag journey along with Macarena D’Lorenzo. Salem Moon has been a role model and such an icon for me as well. I also can’t forget my partner Alexia Confiado D’Lorenzo who has been by my side for the amazing journey of my career.
