We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrelle Dames and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrelle, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Consistency. Consistency is one of the many keys to success. You have to keep telling yourself to keep pushing and to keep advertising your business no matter how tiring or unrewarding it may seem at times.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It may sound cliché but it look a lot of sweat and tears. Mainly tears. Starting anything from the ground up with absolutely nothing is never easy. I started my business as a Junior in College.

I was working fast food full time while taking on a full college load in credits. I started my business with the bare minimum of supplies. And every time I look back at how I started to where I am now, I am always proud of myself.

Growing up in The Bahamas I never once thought I would ever make it to college , let alone to start my own Business.

I knew that I had a passion for Locs and Natural hair as I maintain my own locs and have been maintaining my own natural hair for as long as I could remember.

One of the main things I learned along the way is to never give up and to always speak life and positivity into yourself and into everything that you do.

The road to success is never easy.

However, you will have one heck of a story to tell when you make it

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t really have a favorite spot. However,
My friends and I love to try new things so if they’re coming into town more than likely we looked up some brunch spots and evening lounges.

Top Brunch Spots that I have visited are:

STIRR Restaurant in Dallas
Fusion Mediterranean Grill and Bar
Xoxo Dining room

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to My Mom, older sister, and to everyone who saw the potential in my starting business and wanted to see me shine. A special shoutout to those who allowed me to Practice and perfect my skills while using them as my muse
