We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what matters most to you?
A principle I’ve really been intentional to stand behind is empowerment and the driving factors to empower others into making positive change in their own lives. I feel as though each of us can be our own worst enemy and harshest critic sometimes, and life is already challenging enough. I believe every single individual on this planet is in need of more life spoken into them. Our modern society focuses so much on having all the resources, tools, and gadgets to “succeed” but the real determining factor is whether or not someone has the belief in themselves that they can. Feeling personally empowered creates a ripple effect of more creativity, love, compassion, ambition, and positive change— how could the world not need more of that?

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Oh goodness— I truly feel as though I’m just getting started along my journey and there’s so many bumps, road blocks, and learning lessons ahead of me. I like to say I stumbled and tripped into where I am today, I had no master plan for any of it— and I choose to take each moment by moment and see where my energy flows. What excites me most about what I do is the feedback I get on helping others create positive change in their own lives and the lives of those around them. I will never get tired of hearing about the healthier choices someone made for the week! Interestingly enough, a hurdle I really struggled with (and sometimes still do) was putting myself out there for the world to see. Had I never decided to put anything out there, I would of never received the feedback that I love so much or the opportunities it has created. The main thing I would like people to know when working with me is that they don’t have to have a journey that looks like mine at all— they don’t need to do every exercise that I do or eat all of the same things— we are all very different genetically speaking so a one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t make much sense. Each of our experiences may be different, but nevertheless we all deserve a journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being that my family and I packed up our belongs to move here— I couldn’t not pick the beach! The gulf beaches of Anna Maria Island hold a special place in my heart. A perfect beach day finished with a raspberry vanilla concrete from Sweet Berries and an evening at Shore with a grouper entree just before catching the sunset back on the beach would be a perfect vacation day in my book.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think it goes without saying— it truly takes a village. There are many moving pieces and parts to my story but the first person that comes to mind is my husband. Nick has always encouraged, supported, and helped me chase a better version of myself (long before he was even my husband!)

The second thing that comes to mind is my first yoga studio, Hot Spot Power Yoga in Jacksonville, FL. This studio and group of instructors held space and initiated shifts for radical change in my life, allowed me to breakthrough personal barriers, and created a love for the practice I’ll forever carry with me. This studio is also where I got my 200 hour to be a Registered Yoga Instructor and is the reason I get to do much of the work that I love.
