We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Honestly, the most important factor behind my success—and the success of my brand—has been God. I’ve been doing makeup for over 20 years professionally as MUA Tasha Renee, and that’s where everything started. I built a name as an artist, but it wasn’t until I fully surrendered my gifts back to God that I saw the deeper purpose in it all.

When I launched MUA Assist, it wasn’t just about selling beauty tools. It became a way to make makeup easier for women while also encouraging their walk with Christ. What’s made the brand successful is staying obedient—even when it’s uncomfortable—and letting God lead every creative and strategic decision. I don’t separate business and ministry. For me, it’s one and the same. This is bigger than makeup. It’s about purpose, confidence, healing, and helping women see themselves the way God sees them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is called MUA Assist, and while it started with makeup, it’s really about ministry. We create professional tools like beauty sponges and instant brush cleaner, but what truly sets us apart is that everything we do is centered on Jesus Christ. We exist to help women not just look beautiful—but to walk in the fullness of who God created them to be. This isn’t just a beauty brand—it’s a Kingdom assignment.

Before MUA Assist, I worked for over 20 years as MUA Tasha Renee, doing makeup for weddings, photo shoots, events—you name it. That’s where I built my foundation as a professional artist. But over time, I realized my gift had a greater purpose. I wasn’t just doing faces—I was encouraging hearts. And once I surrendered my business to Jesus, He gave me vision I never would’ve come up with on my own.

It has not been easy. I didn’t start with a business plan or investors—I started with faith and a yes to Jesus. There were moments I had nothing but prayer and a promise. I’ve cried, fasted, sacrificed, and questioned everything. But Jesus never failed me. Every time I was ready to give up, He reminded me why I started—and who I’m doing this for.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that when Jesus is truly your CEO, your job is to trust and obey. Success for me isn’t just about sales—it’s about impact, transformation, and obedience. I’ve learned to invite Jesus into every detail of my business, from content creation to customer service to major decisions. And that’s what’s kept me.

What I’m most excited about now is expanding our mentorship program and continuing to create spaces where beauty and faith collide. Whether it’s through teaching, podcasting, or creating tools, I want women to know they are seen, they are loved, and they are called.

What I want the world to know is this: this brand is for the woman who wants more than makeup. She wants meaning. She wants to grow in confidence, skill, and faith. MUA Assist is about helping her do just that—with Jesus leading the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to Dallas, we’d start with a peaceful prayer walk at Cedar Ridge Preserve, take time to reflect by White Rock Lake, and maybe grab a coffee from Soirée Coffee Bar to unwind. I’d love to do something creative together, like making custom lip gloss at MYX Blend Bar or blending a clean signature scent at Expressive Aromas—something fun but still wholesome. For meals, we’d support some of my favorite Black-owned spots like Brunchaholics for a soul food brunch, The FIVEE Bistro for dinner and good vibes, and Cake Bar for something sweet. We’d take photos in Deep Ellum, do a little journaling, and spend time in worship and Bible study, keeping Jesus at the center of it all. And of course, we’d end the trip with church at Kingdom Culture Dallas, Liberate Church, or The Way Fellowship—some of the most powerful, Spirit-led communities in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. First and foremost, I have to give honor and credit to the Word of God. The Bible has been my anchor, my guide, and my strategy book through every season—especially the tough ones. And Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer was a game-changer for me. That book helped me recognize how much of my journey was mental and spiritual warfare, and how to fight back with truth.

Of course, all glory goes to God. I’ve seen Him move in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated if I tried. He’s the one who gave me the vision, the strength, and the favor. But He also sent people along the way who deserve a shoutout too.

My family has stood by me, even when I was figuring it out. I’m especially thankful for the friends who prayed with me, encouraged me, and called out the greatness in me when I couldn’t see it for myself. My Pray & Chat community and church family have been a safe place for me to grow spiritually and serve freely.

And I want to give a special shoutout to every woman I’ve mentored or worked with—you’ve been part of the reason I keep going. You remind me that this is bigger than beauty.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. And I’m grateful for every person, prayer, and page that helped shape me along the way.
