We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Gulakova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanya, how does your business help the community?
We love our linen products because of their sustainability. They are highly biodegradable while at the same time they are very strong and resistant to mold. They will serve you for a long time. All our fabrics come with the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, an assurance that the products are safe to use and have been tested for harmful substances.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My husband Marco and I started LinenCasa because we wanted to bring to the US products made from 100% European stonewashed linen. Stonewashing makes linen softer, textured, more absorbent and hassle free! Meaning we use only regular washer/dryer and we don’t iron our stonewashed linen products. We are proud to have a product made of a fiber, flax, that has incredible properties and is Earth friendly! Highly biodegradable and doesn’t require a lot of water nor pesticides to grow. Sustainable and at the same time very strong! We are still a small family business and this year I quit my Corporate job to dedicate completely my time to LinenCasa. One of the major obstacle we encountered (especially in Texas) is that people in the US are not as familiar with linen as people in Europe for example. Our mission became “educating about linen one towel at a time!”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coming from Europe we like walkable places in general, around Dallas/Fort Worth we would visit spots such as The Shops at Legacy, Highland Park, Bishop Arts District among others. If it’s a week long trip we would certainly venture to the Hill country, visit some wineries near Fredericksburg and hiking the Enchanted Rock for example. As far as eating we like to discover new whole food plant based restaurants, that use fresh produce from local farms.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our Shoutout list is seriously very long.. We are very fortunate to be supported by more than one hundred small business owners, brick and mortar stores mainly, from all over the US. In addition to all our wonderful retail customers that we meet at local markets in Dallas and follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
