We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Kleis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tammy, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Most people are unable to explain the differences between THC, the chemical responsible for marijuana’s psychological effects, and CBD, a separate, cannabis-derived extract found in edibles and oils.

Some of them were unaware of key differences between the various cannabis cousins, they didn’t realize there was any difference between the non-psychoactive CBD and the psychoactive THC component found in marijuana.

In reality, CBD is the “good” cousin and helps tremendously.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve have a resume longer than a CVS receipt! I’ve had every job that you can think of. I married young at the age of 20 and became a Mom shortly after that.

My priority was my child and my family. I took on various jobs, but found my way into Chiropractic and traditional medicine. I come from a family of nurses and knew that I wanted to help people in any way possible that I could.

After working in the Chiropractic and medical field for over 15 years, it was time to branch off and become someone who I’ve always wanted to be. A business owner. You do get tired of “working” for someone else, but those experiences got me to where I am today, and I’m forever grateful for all of my odd jobs in life.

The older I get the more I realize that I have a lot of knowledge to share and have experienced first hand what most are going through.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I LOVE downtown McKinney and what they have to offer. So many cool retail shops, restaurants, and plenty of gorgeous buildings to see. What I love about downtown McKinney is that each store is unique, just like McKinney prides itself in being. UNIQUE. Walking in downtown McKinney you are supporting local businesses and helping them achieve their goals and supporting them and their family. That is what it is all about.

I love visiting Local Yocal BBQ & Grill and The Yard. Two of my favorite spots. Another great place to go is Barrons Estate Jewelers, you can find just about anything for anyone in there. I love that place. That is a must go to location.

After spending a day in Downtown McKinney I would take in a baseball, hockey, football, or basketball game depending on the season. We are lucky enough to live in such a great area where we have ALL of that to offer to go see and experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my 47 years of circling this wonderful world I have so many people to be thankful for, but foremost I have to thank my Husband, Brad, of 27 years. He has always supported my beliefs and decisions but this step was the biggest step that I decided to take. I knew I would need his help and his knowledge to make it happen. He has always been there for me and I know he will have my back and continue to do so.

The rest of family has also been a big part of achieving this goal. My two sons, Trevor & Garrett. My Mom, Diane, and a massive amount of friends who have been there for me cheering me on.

Last but not least my business partner, Kelly. We had a plan and a goal and somehow it all came together. It took a lot of work and determination but we are pretty hard headed and we don’t take No for an answer.
