Meet Tamela Bowie: Business Owner/Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamela Bowie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamela, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing that a parent can do for their children is to leave a legacy. I am not speaking in terms of a financial legacy but of a spiritual legacy of faith in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I strive to be the best representation of Jesus Christ to my children as their mother, as a business woman and as a wife. I raised and led my children by presenting to them The Word of God as the best answer to life’s difficulties and its ups and downs. My children are grown adults now and very capable of making their own decisions for their life. However, the one thing I know that has been the saving grace and the greatest impact on their lives, is their love for Christ and His Word that I instilled in them. Now, they are going out and making an impact in the lives of others by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ just as I did in their lives. 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tamela Bowie Interiors was created in 1999 as a business outlet for my passion at creating functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces coupled with timeless design. In the beginning, our main focus was decorating and styling residential and commercial spaces. My attention to detail mixed with a little DIY skill set, opened my eyes to the hidden love I had for remodeling and renovation. As my firm grew, we took on design projects that required a few walls to be removed and/or installed, custom cabinetry to be built, and sometimes ceilings that needed raising. Soon afterwards, there would not be one design project that did not have some sort of remodeling aspect to it. Over the next 5 years, Tamela Bowie Interiors became known as a pro-remodeling design firm and that is what sets us apart in the DFW metroplex. We still pride ourselves in offering decorating and styling services, however, I am super excited to be able to offer top-notch remodeling and renovation services for those clients that not only want to see an aesthetic change but a structural change in their spaces as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a creative person, I can make any event fun and exciting because I can see beyond what others see and can create a different viewpoint. What others may see as mundane and boring, I have the creative ability to make it into something that is adventurous and very informative. What is fun and exciting for me is to visit quaint antique shops, unique boutiques and outdoor flea markets. I love to bring along individuals to teach them about the history of furniture design, introduce their tastebuds to different cultures of food, and show them how to turn other’s trash into their treasures. 

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first give thanks and honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is so true in Philippians 4:13, ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. It is thru my faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, that I was able to persevere, stay the course and stay focused towards achieving my business career goals.
