Meet Synnovia Conner | Loctitian and Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Synnovia Conner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Synnovia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Of course making my own money lol, but most importantly I’m raising girl. So I want them to see me being a boss and doing big things so it’s kind of something they inherit or can just say the grew up seeing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist and Loctitian. Natural hair has always been my passion so stepping into the loc world was kind of a right of passage. I love seeing black women with a fresh style done to their hair, because natural hair can be hard to manage or even love. So you can literally see them walking as if they have a crown on their head when they leave my chair. I take pride in that. I’ve been doing hair ever since I can remember. The most difficult thing about my journey was finding a way to say I need time for me. Especially when you offer great service. I have a family so it’s important for me to be present in both worlds. Then add starting a loc extension business to the mix, I feel like I’m always on the move! Learning that it’s ok to disconnect from business at a certain time of the day has been the biggest lesson learned so far. When it comes to my brand I want people to know the beauty behind locs, and women with locs, our hair journey is just a glamorous as any other hair journey. We are here and I am here to slay and add beauty to our crowns.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We definitely need to visits bishop arts! I love everything about it. You can spend the entire day there and enjoy plenty of food, drinks, art, and entertainment. We have to visit the Arboretum and botanical garden. It’s so beautiful and scenic. Harlows in Deep Ellum is a must. Deep Ellum is a must in its self lol. Pestinos for the win with all that wine!
Then to top it off we could finish with some messages from King spa because they have food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family of course, and especially my clients. I can’t forget about all the ladies that support me on line “my cyber sisters”
