We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Baisden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business has always been a dream of mine. I saw a need for skilled and experienced Estheticians, and decided to go for it. Many of my clients were tired of having to drive to the city for an upscale spa experience so I decided to offer it to them in their own neighborhood.

What should our readers know about your business?
Jean Marie Beauty is a skincare studio in Frisco, TX. At Jean Marie, we offer advanced facials, waxing, and lash lift services. What sets us apart is the experience we provide. Our clients are our top priority, and giving a 5 star experience at affordable prices is our mission.

We specialize in working with skin of color, and the unique challenges that come with lifting dark spots, and removing course curly hair. I am most proud of our hydra facial treatment, which is the newest modality for clients looking to improve the tone and texture of their skin. This cutting edge service provides clients with an oxygen and vitamin infused experience, that leaves their skin hydrated and supple. Hydra facials are amazing for all skin types, and will help reduce fine lines, dark spots and sun damage.

I’ve gotten to where I am today through sheer grit, and determination. It has definitely has not been easy. I’ve invested thousands of dollars in training, equipment, and advertising. I’ve worked jobs on the side, working day and night to bring this dream to fruition. I’ve overcome these challenges by holding fast to my vision and the life I aspire to create for my son.

Along the way I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight! Patience is a virtue. If you treat every client like a superstar they will return and tell their friends.

I would like the world to know that Jean Marie Beauty is here to stay, and that everyone deserves to experience luxurious self care from time to time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends were visiting Frisco I would take them to the Shops at Legacy for some amazing food, drinks and shopping. This is also my favorite place to people watch and take some amazing instagram-able pics. I would also take them to a Cowboys Game, so they could experience the At&T Stadium. I am a lover of live music so I would definitely take them to see RC and the Gritz, who host amazing open mics all over the city. We would have to hit Out Of The Closet thrift store for for some amazing vintage finds. Yellow Rose, in Deep Ellum would be another must see food and drink spot; giving all the Maya Tulum vibes right here in town. Lastly we would have to visit Lilac Tattoo Studio for some new ink, at Dallas’ first black female owned tattoo studio.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Grandmother, Betty Jean Rentie; who always encouraged me to go after my dreams. She was the epitome of class and elegance which is what I modeled my business after. I would also like acknowledge my family and friends who have supported my business, and are always there to give me an inspiring pep talk when I feel like I’m in over my head.
