We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydneigh Blue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydneigh, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Two of the most important factors behind the success of my business and myself have been consistency and the desire to continue learning. To perfect my craft, I had to work on it as much as I possibly could. I didn’t want my physical work to be the only thing consistent throughout my business, though. Having consistent customer service, branding, customer experiences, etc., played a vital role in Wig Life’s success. I also seek new and more knowledge in my field and business in general. You can never get too comfortable or think that you know everything. The world is constantly evolving, and there is always new information to learn.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wig Life is an online wig store that offers high-quality wigs, digital products, and hair products. The business started on the campus of Southern University and A&M College during my freshman year in 2017. During my matriculation at Southern, the company grew bigger, but Wig Life grew even more rapidly when I decided to quit cheering for the university. After I decided to stop cheering, I rebranded and re-launched in May of 2020. Wig Life quickly became a six-figure business by December 2020. I am incredibly proud to have generated over six figures in revenue before graduating college and developed a successful business in a state I was not brought up in.

The journey was not easy because running a business on your own is not an easy task. On top of running a business, I had classes to attend and either cheer practices to participate in or cheer practices that I held for the teams that I coached. Being a college student, I also wanted and still want to have a college social life. Although I have a lot on my plate, I always remind myself of the end goal: to set myself up for success post-graduation and be a successful business owner. I have learned that I can’t go to every party or social event, and I can’t surround myself with people who aren’t ambitious. I’ve also learned to speak my goals into existence and treat my business like it’s already a big business.

I’d like for the world to know that I am just getting started. I am extremely confident in myself and my capabilities because I’ve accomplished great things while having a million things on my plate. I can only imagine how big my brand will be when I graduate, and I can put all of my focus into building a beauty empire.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly don’t go home to Dallas much because of my busy schedule, but I make sure to visit a few spots when I do. For brunch, I go to Yolk in Downtown Dallas. I go to Fuel City at any time of the day for the best tacos, and occasionally I visit Shell Shack!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to my family! The Blues are a family full of entrepreneurs, artists, free-spirits, go-getters, and so much more. Being the baby of the family, I witnessed my three brothers and parents go after their dreams and take risks since I was a young girl. They have all shown me that no dream is too big and to do whatever makes me happy. Shout out to y’all for being such great inspirations!
