We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunshine James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sunshine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I come from a long line of hustlers. My whole family is adaptive and self employed. We are not great at sitting in a cubicle and being told what to do. So naturally I bounced between construction, shops and restaurants while I chase the music dream.

What should our readers know about your business?
It’s very simple. Im addicted to my passion and I outwork everyone around me. I don’t have money, I don’t have the most talent, I’m far from good looking and I’m nowhere near the savviest business man. But Im relentless and giving up isn’t even a thought. Theres nothing else. This is what I want and need. People love it. People have discipline. But they’re not addicted and that’s what makes none of this feel like work or tough. There are challenges. But that just keeps shit interesting. My body hurts from the real world of manual labor and responsibility. This life is incredible and it’s all up to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Find and eat all the bbq. Find the best bands that fill the dance floor because that’s where the girls are.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents. They have always been supportive of whatever I want to do. They gave and give advice but don’t judge or take it personally if I choose a different route. They just make sure to remind me I have to do all the work myself. The older I get the more I realize that’s a rare blessing. Unwavering support, love and reality checks from the people that matter most is huge.
