We had the good fortune of connecting with Storie Esquell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Storie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9
I read this scripture everyday to remind myself that the journey I am on belongs to God and him alone, to trust his guidance and always do the next right thing
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I was about 8 yrs old, I declared I would own land. I was enchanted with the way of life, being connected to the dirt, to growing. I wanted everyone to have this feeling. While I didn’t know specifically how to make this happen at age 8, I did know it was important, and I would play a part. A journey of gathering knowledge, skills, degrees, and on the farm training has led me to my real estate career today. I joined the Kristi Martin Team in June of 2022, within my first 24 hours in business with Kristi, I had my first property under contract. A short 4 months later I capped and wrapped up 2022 with serving more families than I had the entire previous year of real estate. One short year later, I have accomplished over a million dollars in listings this month, a goal that I thought I would not reach for years.
Probably the biggest challenge in what I do is, there is only one of me and so many people I want to serve. Markets move and change; inspections come back less than optimal, financing falls through, etc. But all those things are fixable with the right amount of determination. Tough? Yes, Impossible? Absolutely no! But there are limits to my time and my quality of service requirements, placed by me on me, make for tough decisions some days. And, I have a commitment to myself to honor my family time and never take for granted the blessing they are in my life. So, yes, there are days I wish I didn’t need to sleep.
Definitely one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my career is that my clients aren’t looking for houses, they are looking for homes. Places that make their heart swell, with pride, with reflection on their accomplishments and with a view of providing a certain experience for their friends and family. My seller’s want to pass on their homes to the next family to nurture and make their own. Working with horses has taught me so much about love, pride ( the good kind, and the not so good) perseverance, getting back up, heartache, training, and exhilaration when everything comes together. I bring this same energy and passion to real estate, knowing I can match the right seller and buyer with a never give up or give in attitude. And most important, facilitate the journey of my clients realizing their dreams.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d kick off their visit with a Friday night football game right in our town, to truly grasp the close-knit community spirit that defines small rural areas.
Next, we’d take a scenic drive along gravel back roads. It’s a chance to appreciate the enduring connection between the countryside and its people.
A good chunk of our time would be spent at my place, where horses rule the roost. We’ll ride, work with these majestic animals, and immerse ourselves in the tranquility of our family ranch. It’s a genuine taste of rural life, where simplicity meets soul-enriching experiences.
As the sun sets, we’d gather around the grill, summoning the irresistible flavors of Texas Beef. Savoring mouthwatering food, sharing hearty laughs, and creating lasting memories, this is the epitome of our time together.
At the end of their visit, we’ll unveil the true essence of rural living—community bonds, the land’s enduring importance, family closeness, and unforgettable shared moments.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
to my husband, my best friend, my business partner, and the most incredible father to our daughter- and to her, our miracle one. The one who God was so determined to get here that she defied all my challenges with health, the naysaying doctors, and the scary almost came to early time. Also to my people, who have supported me through thick and thin, remember that everyone has their own style and their own particular niche. Hone yours diligently. I believe it’s critical to say what you are going to do and do what you said you would do. Put your best boot forward every time, especially when it would be easier, quicker, or less hassle not to do your best. I believe C.S. Lewis gave the best insight on reputation when he stated, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
